Independence Day I am so glad I listened when members said the theatrical version is superior to the longer cut present on the 5 star edition. This is one of my favorite discs with audio and video a 5/5. Kicks the shit out of the 5 star in every way. I watch this movie every year after fireworks.

I'm glad we can agree on this one. District 9 was terribly over-rated IMHO.

City of the Living Dead - This is why I love Blu-Ray. I remember buying a DVD bootleg of this at a flea market when I was a kid. Its just amazing watching this movie look so good. One of the true zombie greats.

Hot tub Time Machine-Much, much better than I expected!
Tidal Wave-Funny movie, just not sure that's what was wholly intended though.

Independence Day - Every time I watch it I feel like I should hate it, but darn if I don't end up getting into it and having a blast.

Watchmen: Directors Cut
The directors cut of this film runs 186 minutes, that's roughly 25 minutes longer then the theatrical cut. Sitting through any movie that is 186 minutes long is a journey, and at times can even be exhausting. I don't know how anyone could make it through the Ultimate Cut (215 minutes). I like this movie, I've seen it three times and I've enjoyed every viewing, but I honestly feel exhausted, like I need to take a nap after every time I watch it. It's not because it's a boring film, it's both entertaining and thought provoking. I just always take the disc out of the player and take a deep breath. I dunno why, I'd say the sole reason is it's length, but I don't get that feeling when I watch The Lord of the Rings films. It's just odd. I'll leave it at that, it's odd.
The disc itself is good, but not quite demo worthy. The disc's black levels are pretty bad, the shadow detail is almost non existent. Disc's like The Incredible Hulk, and Terminator Salvation have that amazing balance of grain and clarity that really replicates the look of the original print, but Watchmen doesn't. It has no real distinct look to the image. The image still looks good, but it's far from a perfect transfer, and definitely doesn't hold up to the print I saw at the theater. The audio has some balance issues. By that I mean that the majority of the dialogue will be really quite, but all the action scenes are very loud, causing me to have to constantly change the volume through out the film. The rear speakers were used nicely, but subtly. An acceptable mix, but as said earlier, not demo worthy.

The Crazies (remake) had some good stingers but basically just...meh.

Peter Pan (2003) what an incredible transfer - the video is top notch and the audio notably the bass from the crocodile is quite intense.

Hot Tub Time Machine Not that good and highly overrated IMO. Then again, I didn't think The Hangover was great either (but better than this). Being a fan of Cusack, having grown up in the 80's, and having two eyes that appreciate anything the lovely Lizzy Kaplan does will be just enough to keep it on my shelf and watch it again from time to time.

The 7th Voyage of Sinbad - Just film-viewing at its finest sitting down to watch this in HD last night. And these films have such wonderfully informative commentaries from a filmmaking perspective.
