I won't go so low as the Hallmark Channel but I will stoop low enough to watch this every year. Has some good lines. I like trying to spot the differences in height with Witherspoon to Vaughn from one shot to the next since she had to stand on a box most of the time.

We watched that last night as well while wrapping presents. It's been awhile since we watched it but was funnier than I remembered.

John Wick 2 (2017)
Not as good as the first one but it had a few memorable scenes.

Enjoyed this. Now that war movies have tried to go so real and bloody, seeing a PG-13 war movie seems like they are keeping things too clean. You certainly got the point of what they went through though. Overall a good flick and nice addition to my 4k collection.

Will Poulter the guy who played the kid in We're The Millers was a sadistic SOB in this movie.

A surprise release from Criterion that ended up being a classic good news/bad new scenario.

It's a title that's long been a favorite of mine but one I never expected to see. A fun spy versus spy romp that would make a great double bill with The In-Laws. Unfortunately the PQ, while watchable with some tweaking of the displays picture controls, frequently looks like ass. The transfer looks like it was taken from a release print with an inordinate amount of thick, clumpy grain that looks more like exacerbated scanner noise. And the color is ladled with an inexplicable sickly green tint.

The material and performances were still enough to make the rewatch enjoyable, but this should look so much better than it does.

Finally got around to watching this one after more than a decade of not having it.

Sheer bliss. I'm enormously appreciative of the job Well Go did and enjoyed seeing it again as much as I ever have in the past. Chose to watch it with the 2.0 soundtrack for no particular reason. It sounded incredible.

So satisfying to look at this disc on the shelf now and think "I'm set. This is all I need"- especially after this past year where I think at least half of my purchases were upgrades of previous Bds whose A/V no longer cuts it.

Another disc I got for Christmas. Although it's tough for properties like this to maintain the charm of the original, it was a fun movie with Julianne Moore overacting her ass off. She was chewing scenery like I was chewing popcorn. Channing Tatum was an extended cameo. Jeff Bridges was great. Hanna Altrom didn't show her ass this time but did tell Eggsy "you know what you get" when he saves the world.

A recent upgrade to blu from red. Not a huge fan of Julia Roberts but I love this movie.

Not sure how I first heard of this movie but I rented this and was pleased. An old fashioned thriller with a touch of Bourne but with no unbelievable stunts. A CIA agent is double crossed at an interrogation and spends the next 100 minutes trying to find out who did it, who is for and who is against, and try to stay alive. Naomi Rapace plays a believable action hero.

Mayhem...holy shit was this balls to the walls fun. fucking fantastic. i had no idea what to expect, but it was just like a mash of favorite zombie/infected type movies and worked so well. so well. Yuen was great and Samara Weaving is so fucking hot (on to watch The Babysitter). so much fun i was actually laughing at the unexpected carnage and how some of the carnage took place. this was Joe Lynch's love letter to the movies that preceded. And to now find out he did one of my favorite guilty pleasures in Wrong Turn 2. fantastic!

I heard a lot of folks say this wasn't as good as the first one, but to me it was certainly very close.

I had to watch this part over several times as I could barely breathe from laughing so hard the first 2 or 3 times, sofa king funny:

Spoiler:
The robot dogs, Benny and Jet, stopping their attack as Elton John slowly moves into the frame with "Rocket Man' as the soundtrack.

Maybe it is Oscar bait to play somebody that is physically challenged but James Garfield should get a Oscar nom. Andy Serkis should also get a nom.

Not a big fan of his Spiderman work but Garfield is a phenomenal actor and talent.

Spoiler:
You are not human if you don't cry at the end.

Too bad this was PG-13 and we could not see a more graphic sex scene between Winslet and Elba.

It was alright and probably still better than the last 3 or 4 MI movies he made.

Cheap, Shaw Bros. production made to cash-in on the Dino De Laurentis remake released a few months earlier. The ape suit is pretty ugly and the miniatures range from OK to woeful.
The one saving (almost) grace to it all is the inclusion of a blonde Sheena-esque jungle girl as the Ape-mans doll sized friend/protector. Kraft is fun eye candy.
Fortunately the film moves at a rapid clip and while it hits most of the familiar Kong plot points, it's over before it all become too tedious. As a brain dead diversion it worked OK.

While the scope image is colorful and the elements in amazing shape, the master has some consistent problems with aliasing. Otherwise the image is quite watchable.

Finished up from where I left off earlier.

Never been a huge fan of concert videos, but I loved this one. Enjoyed all the performances, especially & surprisingly the rousing finish with Shankar.

Will probably be a while before I watch the Otis or Jimi sets, but I'm already glad I picked this up.

Hoult was great in this.

Maybe one of Spacey's final film projects. Too bad he messed up his career. A talented actor who could not control his urges.

Not excusing what he did and understand people are reluctant to come forward at times. What surprised me about Spacey was just how indiscreet he was yet it never came out he was gay. The rumors had floated because he wasn't really seen in the company of women. But those rumors float for a lot of guys without any real reasons. But unlike a Weistein whose secret seemed to be common knowledge after all, he was pretty forward at times yet his being gay was some sort of secret.

I think in a interview he did on 60 minutes he gave a ambiguous answer and never said he was gay or straight.

What surprised me he lasted so long with nobody filing complaints or bringing up his indiscretions.

Saw this in the theater and enjoyed it. Didn't remember the Columbia scenes as being so saturated with color. Thought there was a problem with the disc but the BR was the same thing. Always enjoy any documentaries about the real people or events for a movie like this. Other than Cruise being thin and fit and the real Barry was an extra large dude, they seemed to capture his persona.

My wife gave it 45 minutes. I gave it an hour and then gave up. A dramedy that wasn't very funny even though it had Ben Stiller and Jenna Fischer. Basically a monologue about a mid life crisis. All my friends are rich and famous and I'm a poor schlub. Cry me a river. 1/5

First ep from

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon...._AC_US218_.jpg

The headline for some Yahoo clickbait spoiled who was the character getting clobbered at the end of S6, so while I knew that going in, I was still very curious as to how the rest of the predicament would play out.

It seems like this has been my reaction to the first ep(s) of the last several seasons of this show, but I sincerely question how much longer I can stay with this show as it is just really unpleasant to watch sometimes.

The gore and grue are much less interesting to me now than when I was a kid- so that spect wears thin a lot quicker.

But the main thing is, I just don't like entertainment the revels in cruelty. There is a mean spiritedness that, while maybe apropos in the context of apocalyptic conditions, isn't ultimately edifying. And do I really want to use my leisure time to wallow in this?

I usually come around by the end of the season and end up remaining invested in the surviving characters and fully charged to see the next one as soon as it hits disc. At some point, that's gonna change.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon...._AC_US218_.jpg

I wouldn't classify this as Neo noir, it's mostly just a throwback thriller.
While you can see the main twist coming early on, there is still some suspense to be wrung, as well as ultimate ending that I wasn't quite expecting. Not a lost classic, but an ok time waster especially if you like any of the actors.

Unfortunately., this is a pretty weak disc all around. Whoever supplied the master dis a piss poor job, with this having some of the wonkiest gamma settings I've ever seen.
On the audio side, there are a consistent parade of analog pops .
Kind of a mess all around.
