The Seventh Seal. Brilliant film. Gorgeous transfer. A must own release for sure. Good job, Criterion!

The Day After Tomorrow Blu.

Yeah, yeah...outrunning 'cold air,' and other silly stuff in the film...but it looks great on Blu, and is a fun way to kill 2 hours (also noticed its worldwide gross makes it the second top grossing Emmerich film...international grosses are impressive for this film, so lots of people like silly disaster films). Watching the Yahoo exclusive trailer for 2012 put me in the mood to watch this film.

Star trek 5. fun movie from a Trek fan perspective but, almost unwatchable towards the end given the contrast level literally whiting out most of the "god" scenes. Soundtrack was awesome though. There were a couple spots of softness that I noticed throughout the film as well. It looks to be the worst of the bunch I have seen so far. Trek 6 is tmrw. so, we'll see what visual/aural goodies that brings.

Almost forgot, Friday the 13th, (new version). Also a fun ride. I liked the new jason interpretation and enjoyed the various deaths. PQ seemed a bit on the dark side but the AQ was solid.

Swordfish. Better than I thought it would be. Maybe worth keeping, since I only paid $2.50 for it. It's too bad the ending to the film kind of fails to make sense of everything. It was a bit puzzling in that regard. Whatever.

Update: I'm definitely not keeping this. I just thought I'd make that clear now. I enjoyed it somewhat while watching the film but the ending ultimately ruined the whole experience for me. This is by no means a high art film, instead it's for those who enjoy explosions, hot women, and the interesting cast. I do, but you'll probably only enjoy it enough to watch once. Maybe.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country... and now that my 11-yo son has seen all six films, I am taking him to see the new Star Trek.

His ranking: 6, 4, 3, 2, with 1 and 5 tied for last.

My ranking: 4, 6, 2, 3, 5, and 1.

I liked the movie when I saw it in the theater, but I was shocked at how much my opinion changed when I viewed the BD. Usually, if I get up and do other things while watching a movie, it pretty much means I'm bored. I got up at least 2 or 3 times while re-watching F13. I made sure to watch the sex scene, though.

Watched Fifth Element on Blu tonight. It'd been a long time since I'd watched this movie, still enjoyed it.

Patriot Games. The bass hit from the terrorist attack was not that impressive from the BR though.

The Last Metro. Another amazing François Truffaut film. Easily one of the best films I have experienced as of late. Anyone with a true passion for cinema owes it to themselves to see this and The 400 Blows on these wonderful Blu-ray releases from Criterion.

The included short film done by Truffaut and Goddard was wonderful as well. Make sure to watch it if you have this disc.

A Bug's Life. We picked it up at the TRU sale and never had a chance to watch it. Good movie and great to look at too.
