Cop Land - It's been a while since I last watched this. Great film, fucking phenomenal cast, love Shore's score.

Henry's Crime for the names in this it should have been better
The Grey typical disaster movie, catastrophe followed by guys being picked off one by one. Lousy CGI and green screen work.

Both were pretty boring

The Expendables: Extended Director's Cut. Although the individual changes don't seem like much, the cumulative effect is a version more in line with the superior sequel. There's more of a sense of camraderie among the group and the tone is more fun in parts. Although the shakeycam is still prevalent, the fights are easier to follow because the editing is far more relaxed. This version of the film even establishes the type of sendoff (the "sinner's prayer") that one of the characters gets at the end of the sequel.

My only gripe is with an addition that I did like.
Spoiler:
When Sandra is being waterboarded, her father comes to her rescue instead of standing idly by (as he'd done in the theatrical cut). However, she's later once again held prisoner by Monroe with no explanation as to how that happened.

Snow White and the Huntsman. It was decent enough but felt three times longer than it really was. All the while I was watching it, I kept thinking how much better and far more coherent it would be as a TV series. In fact, given the episodic nature of the film, it felt as if someone had taken bits and pieces from different episodes of a TV series and cut it all toegether to make a truncated movie version.

I will say that, when the horrid use of shakey cam wasn't getting in the way, the film was visually stunning. My favourite sequence was in Sanctuary since it was all pretty much a live action version of the forest in Mononoke Hime. However, all that (and even the troll bridge sequence) felt pointless since none of those fantasy creatures, aside from the dwarves, ever joined in the fight against Ravena. Huge missed opportunity right there.

Other than not really getting what happened in the end (is Snow White now in love with the Hunstman or...?), why was there Christianity in this fantasy universe? I kept expecting Jesus or Aslan to pop up at any moment.

The Five-Year Engagement...a little long, but thoroughly enjoyable. i don't know why i am such a sucker for these rom-coms. But, this was a little unique and Emily Blunt is just divine.

Wrath of the Titans

This was the only major release available at Netflix.

Other than the Cyclops sequence it was lame.

No more movie watching on Sunday with the NFL starting.

Lockout...a little too snarky for Snow's character. i mean really laid it on throughout. predictable, but interesting.

Blow Out
Been putting off watching this for years. Loved it, but then, I seem to like almost everything Depalma does. Really impressed by Travolta here.

Murder a la Mod
Saw this years ago on a Something Weird disc, and never imagined that I'd see it next via a Criterion blu-ray!

Finally watched the Watchmen Ultimate cut. What an absolute epic and some incredible sound design, even on my vintage 5.1 system.
