Do you guys think Best Buy will price-match Toys R Us? I have $20 in-store credit at Best Buy, so I'd rather buy Pinocchio there.

Those screencaps make me tingle in places not even allowed on HBO.

So are they stretching the image to make the movie widescreen?

Yes.

I predict that what happened is the 21.99 price is listed for the DVD and the blu-ray caption is only showing it's also available on blu-ray. Through someone not thinking, they were both placed together because when is a blu-ray price listed while a DVD price isn't?

I think this is the case because that would put Toys R Us cheaper than everywhere else and that is not the Toys R Us way.

I told my wife to get there when it opened just in case she could get someone to go along with it until they figured out what's up and put a sign up or something.

Hopefully BB doesn't notice because I plan on price matching

I think they've had better deals in the past on things. I know I've been there before to pick up stuff, but maybe that was to price match and get their exclusive bonuses. I was thinking they had Star Wars Special Editions cheaper than anywhere else, but now I think I price matched it for some other reason, though I can't remember if it was because of a special bonus or they had a coupon. I think it was the latter. Or maybe the coupon itself made it cheaper than anywhere else.

They had Star Wars cheaper than other places last holiday season but I'm talking about new releases.

I'm pretty sure that Toys R Us had the best price on the High School Musical 3 Blu-ray (another recent Disney new release) by at least a couple of dollars when compared to Target, K Mart, and Best Buy. My brother was planning to pick it up for his kids, and we were surprised to find it in the TRU ad for $24.99 on the Sunday before the release date. Best Buy lowered their price to $22.99 the following week.

Oh fuck you Toys R Us. And Disney. A barely 88 minute film for $30.00. I'm sorry. But even though I love Disney, and this film, this quite frankly pisses me off. Keep looking for cheaper deals people. Like Half.com and Overstock.com

No, the movie is presented in its original 4:3 aspect ratio. For those that just can't stand empty portions of the screen however, they have created themed borders for each scene. They're nothing more than pieces of artwork that work well with each scene, but they're stationary and can be fairly distracting. The default way to watch the film is the 4:3 image without any additional crap though.

I have the Toys R Us newsprint ad in hand (with the $22 price), gonna try to price match at Best Buy at lunch (fingers crossed - it shouldn't be that hard since the cashiers at Tenleytown exude a 'don't care' attitude anyway)

Re: Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition - Spring 2009

Just got back from Toys R Us.

My copies of Pinocchio rang up $21.99 for the BD and $15.99 for the DVD - got a couple neat little cups with them too.

Both copies have a slipcover too. The BD does NOT have the velcro flap that Sleeping Beauty had, but they do look pretty nice next to each other.
The case is only slightly thicker than Sleeping Beauty too - the same 3 disc case that Wall-E had.

My TRU didn't have any in stock when I got there so I just picked it up at Best Buy.

I price matched at BB using a printout of the TRU front page scan from earlier in this thread. No fuss. No muss. Since I had a $20 Reward Zone certificate to use, my total cost was $2.15. Needless to say, I am a happy camper!

Re: Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition - Spring 2009

Screw the sales and promotions. I just grabbed it for $25.99 at Costco while I was there today.

I'll call the $4 I didn't save a "convenience charge."

My Toys R Us didn't have them out and the manager had to go into the back to get a couple. It rang up $21.99. No fuss, no muss.
