I think it's a shame that Pinocchio won't have the velcro book-like slipcover that Sleeping Beauty had.

At my house, that'll just save a tree.

You kill a tree every time Disney releases a film with a velcro book-like slipcover?

I am tempted to get this movie on Tuesday. I can get this and Milk on Monday followed by Bolt on Thursday.

You must live in a different world where release dates are a few weeks early. Or a place that breaks them often.

I'm still trying to figure out why he'd say he's thinking about getting it Tuesday, but he can get it Monday.

Could be review copies (though I already have Milk). Most likely its a small store breaking street date.

From what I hear plenty of small stores in big cities break street dates as soon as they get product in.

I've gotten a number of movies from this place early. They were going to be here today, but didn't ship out on Friday like they thought it would.

Re: Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition - Spring 2009

I saw a commerical for this on HDNet last night that showed a few HD scenes with the "disney view". It wasn't as distracting as I would have thought. My eyes were drawn to it but I think it was mainly due to the fact that I was specifically lokking for it in the ad.

GoldenJCJ, the rendering in your avatar of the classic Jaws poster image makes me think: how cool would it be to see a BD package for Jaws in which the top of the printed insert lined up with the waterline and the unfortunate swimmer was printed onto the blue top-bar of the case itself?

Sorry for the OT digression, folks.

When I bought "Sukiyaki Western Django" on Blu, it came in a really nice, normal size 3-disc case - which was weird because it only comes with 2 discs. I hadn't thought of it before until you guys were talking about it, but I may swap it's case for the sleeping beuaty case.

I bought the 2-disc Wall-E Blu-ray, so I didn't notice that the 3-disc case was wider. Lame.

If you do, the slip won't fit over the smaller 3-disc BD case.

I've noticed the Wall-E 3-disc editions are now being put in the regular case with the latch. They actually managed to fit 3 in that?

Sure, why not? I have the Firefly 3-disc BD and the set is not bigger than a standard one (or two) disc case.

Re: Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition - Spring 2009

Can't wait to get my hands on Pinocchio , and see this classic animated Disney movie plus see the Platinum Edition trailer for my absolute favourite movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

I just hope that they change the Snow White cover however as I hate it , the eponyous heroine is "off model" , and so is the
Wicked Queen this new Snow White Cover Art totally sucks !!

Which is stupid now since Pinocchio is in the 3 disc fat case. If you want to collect Disney titles they will all be different. Did the new 3 Disc Wall-E come with a slip cover?

Re: Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition - Spring 2009

The studios don't ever give a damn about consistent packaging. It's sad but what can you do.

I do like the wider 3 disc cases they used on the first run Wall-e, Narnia, and HSM 3 sets. I can't tell from the picture but is that what they used on this one or is it a normal Blu-Ray case w/slipcover?

Its a thick case like the 3 disc Wall-E, Narnia etc. Looks good (I have it and gave the film a 20 min spin the other night)

Re: Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition - Spring 2009

Sounds good to me.

We'll have to wait and see if HSM 3 gets a smaller 3 disc case soon, as did Narnia and Wall-E. Disney giving collector's incentive to pick the titles up sooner? If it was a cost saving thing they'd just put them in the cheaper cases to begin with.

Re: Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition - Spring 2009

Well, Pinocchio is a "LIMITED TIME" title. They will be stop pressing at some point and it goes "into the vaults". Big, giant sticker on the case mentioning that fact. I have a feeling the DVD-editions will eventually be discontinued and only the normal 2 Disc (or 1 disc) will be available. Retailers don't want 2 versions of the film on shelves especially one that's priced $5 more (and one that is unlikely to be on sale while the normal version will)

I know, but it's interesting to see what they are doing with all the other 'deluxe' editions. Doesn't make sense to me to release them in a new package a few months later.

Alternate packaging makes sense if a retailer requests it, such as Target, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
