Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
Indy has been rumored for a while, but it's nice to see Airplane! of all things on the list.
And it would be nice for Stardust to come out at some point in order to be eligible for its rebate.

For those that don't know Prison Break Season 2 and 4 have been delayed/canceled on Blu-ray. No idea if they will come out later but as it stands only Season 1, Season 3 and the DTV Film will be on Blu-ray. Grey's Anatomy Season 5 has also been delayed/canceled. Lost Season 1, 2 and 5 are still planned (phew)

Stardust is coming. Its not going to be on that list since its just a filler for when they find time to dump it (was not a big DVD/HD DVD seller). It will likely be timed with one of the stars upcoming films from Paramount on Blu-ray. Same goes for Anchorman.

Who!? Michelle Pfiefer? Robert DeNiro? Claire Danes?? I mean, I can see a promotional tie in for a Will Ferrell movie and "Anchorman". But the stars of "Stardust"?? Do any of them have anything major coming out? Regardless, I've been waiting for this one too for a long time.

48 Hrs. Standard Blu-Ray
Airplane! Standard Blu-Ray
Braveheart Special Edition Blu-Ray
Escape from L.A. Standard Blu-Ray
Friday the 13th Part 2 Standard Blu-Ray
Friday the 13th Part 3 Standard Blu-Ray
Indiana Jones: The Adventure Collection Standard Blu-Ray
Oh yea! In for all of these. Even though I think it's terrible, I still can't wait to pick up EFLA on BD. I need all things Carpenter in Hi-Def.
Hey Gizmo, one of those unannounced titles wouldn't happen to be taking place Once Upon a Time somewhere in the West, would it?

Every time I click on this thread I hope to see a Braveheart announcement. This isn't one per se, but close and yet I refuse to believe it until it's in my hands, or more appropriately in my BD player.

Out of all those listed I'll grab the Indy's, F13's and that will likely be it. Maybe School of Rock...but nothing that really grabs me. Q3/Q4 is turning into a real yawn for me in terms of catalog releases.

I'll check when I get home. I know a big title missing is one that would have sunk right to the bottom...of the list.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
My thoughts exactly....
I mean, if you look at that list, some of those titles had more than one release on DVD....many had an earlier "barebones" disc and then later a re-release with special features....
Specifically, I am thinking of these:
Airplane! Standard Blu-Ray
Deep Impact Standard Blu-Ray
Friday the 13th Part 2 Standard Blu-Ray
Friday the 13th Part 3 Standard Blu-Ray
Indiana Jones: The Adventure Collection Standard Blu-Ray
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events Standard Blu-Ray
Now, technically, the Friday films were released three times on DVD, but the second time was in a series set, so they were only available individually twice....and those are already announced on BD with the special features carried over (or in the case of Part 3, bonus features added)...
Indy was obviously released first in a box set as well, and not individually, and then they added some new bonus features to each individual release, but then dropped the fourth bonus disc from the original, pre-Skull collection....
And yes, Lemony Snicket was available as both a single disc and a 2-disc SE one the same day of original release...
My point is, will Paramount still be carrying over the previous special features from the better DVD releases, if they are calling these just "standard Blu-ray"? Or does that term just mean there will be no NEWLY produced for BD special features, which is the distinguishing factor between "standard" and "special edition" in their book?

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
Standard just means no huge lavish boxset (Casablanca) or anything like that. Paramount has been good about carrying over all (or most) special features.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
That just trumped all the Paramount nonsense.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
I don't get why people are excited for the LotR theatrical editions on BD. Even PJ has said they're not his preferred/final versions. I wouldn't waste $70 on a box set of incomplete films.
Besides, I already have them on SD.
