Doesn't the manual state that too?

Thanks for the suggestion!

But I only show two options for pic size: 16x9 and 4x3. All the others are grayed out and none of them say "Just Scan."

I would just go through everything again - check the video set-up menu on your DVD player and your video set-up menu on your tv. It could just be something that you didn't notice the first time.

Here's the tv manual if anyone wants to guide him more:

Yeah, I've checked the video settings on my DVR and TV several times. There's just not too many choices, to be honest. So, I was pretty confident those basic things were set correctly. I was thinking maybe there would be something on the service menu or something like that. I found out how to get to it, but none of that stuff makes any sense to me.

After finally being able to find some information on the AVS Forum about my TV, I noticed someone else reported the same problem in a fairly recent post but no one has responded to it and I haven't been able to make it through the great many number of pages that preceded it in that thread. There are some monster threads over there!

If you have greyed out selections you might be limited to 480i output to have all of the selections available.

I think that's true. I pretty much do everything now through that one HDMI input, but I know from when I didn't use everything through HDMI that those other selections weren't greyed out (but weren't particularly useful either).

Yeah most HDTVs only allow all of the zoom and stretch functions when the signal being fed is 480 interlaced. As soon as you deinterlace the signal or upconvert to 720p or higher they disable some of them. The only solution is to revert back to 480i and let the display do the upconversion and enable all of the zoom functions.

You say it's mainly when you use the DVR. What res are you outputting from it? You should be able to pass through SD channels without upconverting to see if that fixes it.

^^ I'll check that out tonight to see what happens. Thanks.
