The Dumbo Blu-Ray just hit Singapore ($49.90 Sing). 1 Blu-Ray Disc only. No DVD copy. No slipcover. Packaging is in full English (Dumbo: Special Edition). Regions A & C. Looks like all the extras mentioned in the Spanish Blu-Ray review are present. Debating if i should wait for the US release.

I was watching the Disney XD HD channel last night and they were showing Aladdin. Made me wish they would hurry up on these titles

FANTASIA will be arriving on bluray combo pack on December 7th according to the post just made on DIsneys Disney movie rewards official face book page.
no mention of Fantasia 2000 though, so hopefully they just havent announced it in this and it will also be day and date with Fantasia.

I wonder if the B&TB BD will include the work print?

I wonder if Fantasia will be unedited this time around?

The information below is from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia(Fantasia (film).

Although it was advertised as the "original uncut" version, the Sunflower edit in Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 was maintained. In this version it was accomplished by digitally zooming in on certain frames to avoid showing the black centaurette character. The Disney editor responsible, John Carnochan, was quoted as saying, "It's sort of appalling to me that these stereotypes were ever put in.

I don't see that one being in it. I'm sure the average reviewer will freak out, while I may not be keen on seeing it cuz..well...it is what it is. I'd love to see it in action and have it like that while also having it's alt standard cut for the sake of it.

Why the rolleyes? That's slightly cheaper than ordering it from Mixup unless you're doing a group buy or something.

Because he thinks he's better than everyone else. He had it before it was up on Amazon, so anyone that orders it now is just a fool.

Me? I'm waiting until the official American release. I've got enough to watch that I don't need to import a title that will eventually be released over here absent special circumstances. Not to mention, those of us that wait will probably pay like $15 for it after store sales and Disney Coupons.

Ditto. Decided to wait as the US price would be WAY cheaper than anything offered right now.

Once thought to be released in tandem with Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Amazon now shows an August 3rd release date for James and The Giant Peach.

I figured the roll eyes was because you HAVE to have Amazon Prime in order to get it for that price.

Disney's Alice in Wonderland (2010) Blu-ray had a promo for "The Black Cauldron" but only mentioned a Special Edition DVD. Dangit!

I am puzzled. In this age of Blu-ray Hi-Definition, why is Disney only bothering to release some movies on DVD-only (eg. The Black Cauldron, Alice in Wonderland 1951, Mary Poppins)?

Probably something to do with the fact that the DVD market is what, 9 times larger than BD?

They are willing to wait until the format has matured so much that it's on the verge of becoming a defunct format.

I was looking forward to the Black Cauldron SE DVD for a while until I re-watched it recently and realized it really truly sucked. I couldn't believe how boring it was. I enjoyed the animation and it's dark tones, but it was really boring.

They are waiting until after Armageddon 2012 when things like bread and water become the new things of extreme value on this planet so they can call their new line of special editions the "Bread Edition." I can't wait!

Re: Disney Classic Animation BD Plans: 2009-2010 - Pinocchio, Snow White, Fantasia, B

From here:
The Fantasia four-disc boxed set will contain a beautifully restored version of the 1940 classic--scanned at 4K and remixed for 7.1 channels--as well as Fantasia 2000, plus a platter of Blu-ray extras and a DVD copy of the film. Among the many special features will be an interactive edition of the fabled Shultheis Notebook, a priceless animators "bible" compiled over the career of one of Fantasia's key creators, and the first-ever home video release of Destino, Walt Disney's collaboration with Salvador Dali. Destino is backed by its own 70-minute documentary.

The folks at Disney have also thought up a novel way to preserve archival, standard-definition bonus features without cluttering up the disc: We will be able to download them via BD-Live! The Fantasia box will be released in December, at a price to be determined.

Beauty and the Beast Finally Comes to Blu-ray Disc
Disney's most-requested film, Beauty and the Beast will become the second inductee to their prestigious "Diamond Collection" when it is released in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack on October 5th ($39.99). When we load the disc, a virtual Lumiere guides us through a computer-generated rendition of The Beast's castle, with BD-Live keeping his pithy comments accurate to the time of day.

The film itself has apparently been scrubbed to near-immaculation, endowed with a new 7.1-channel home theater mix as well. An interactive documentary allows us break away to those topic-specific pods which interest us, with expert comments spoken directly to the viewer, breaking the fourth wall. Younger viewers will surely enjoy the Jordin Sparks music video for the theme song, and the new "Disney Teleplay" technology which gives families the opportunity to play Blu-ray games without all fighting for the remote. Instead, we can call a special phone number, choose a character icon and play together in real time, telephone in hand.

Disney continues its tradition of including a standard def DVD version of the film in the package to satisfy the need for portable and non-critical viewing.
Lame news bolded. Nice to see Destino included, as long as I don't have to download it.

It sounds like there's no DVD copy of Fantasia 2000. If so, that's kind of disappointing to just about everyone - the camp that would rather have the extras on disc than a DVD of Fantasia, and the camp that wants DVD copies of all their Disney movies.

I liked the phrase 'Non-critical viewing'. You mean like Jeffrey Lyons?
