The Incredible Hulk BLU-RAY 10/21/08

Release date should be made official soon. Geonosis (blu-ray.com, HDD) has provided a very nice photo of the cover art and extras, which look impressive:

Sounds good, I hope that never before seen material (alternate opening) is more than just an alternate opening...because I was expecting lots of deleted footage... enjoyed the movie and think that packaging looks pretty damn sweet. Can't wait.

Where did all that deleted footage go? Double Dip? Sigh.

I like the cover too. Hopefully all that extra footage won't just be fluff.

I was hoping for the Bill Bixby style poster art myself. This just looks "meh" to me.

It is a slip cover...so the actual cover art might be different.

Bummed about the hours of deleted scenes we were told to expect.

Still....it was a great movie. I'll be buying it.

This is from the HDRoom:
An advertisement in the latest issue of Home Media Retailing magazine reveals the cover art and confirms interactive features for Universal Studios Home Entertainment's The Incredible Hulk on Blu-ray Disc.

The ad promotes BD-Live connectivity with My Chat that allows a viewer to watch and chat with another person via BD-Live in real-time while simultaneously watching The Incredible Hulk. Exclusive downloadable content may also become available but is unknown at this time.

The packaging is described as "collectible 3-D" and can be seen below in all its "green" glory. This will be the first instance of a publisher not using the "blue" Blu-ray logo across the top.

We also noticed the ad promotes a never-before-seen alternate opening and a 153 minute run time. The theatrical version ran 114 minutes so the rumors> regarding an extensive director's cut are somewhat accurate. Instead of 70 additional minutes we'll have to settle for nearly half at 39.

Though not confirmed by Universal at this time, the expected release date for The Incredible Hulk on Blu-ray per retailers is October 21 with an SRP of $39.99. We'll be back with more Hulk info in the near future.

Interesting. You would think the cover then would have "EXTENDED CUT" plastered all over it.

We also noticed the ad promotes a never-before-seen alternate opening and a 1 hour 53 minute run time. The theatrical version ran 114 minutes which is virtually identical. We still don't know if the rumored extensive director's cut with an additiional 70 minutes will be included.

I smell double-dip. I shouldn't be upset however since the TC was a whole heck of a lot of fun and would easily tide me over 'til the DC is eventually released.

Still looks pretty packed to me so whether they double dip or not, I'll keep the first version.

I'll keep my eye out on this one. I really enjoyed the film but I'd rather not double-dip on a Blu-Ray.

"I have some good and bad news for all of you.

The good is that fans will get almost 44 minutes of deleted scenes! But only if you buy the Blu-ray edition. If you don’t have the HD format yet…the 3rd disc of the 3-disc collection will have 28:47 of deleted scenes. As you can tell, the bad news is if you don’t go Blu-ray, you’ll be missing a lot of extra footage.

Here’s the actual breakdown of what footage is on each edition:

On the Hulk bonus disc (part of the 3 disc collection) there are 28:47 minutes of deleted scenes
On the standard DVD, there are 13:19 minutes of deleted scenes
On the Blu-ray version, there are 43:50 minutes of deleted scenes"

Wanna know a way to piss of DVD owners? Do THAT.

Ouch. Glad I'm getting the Blu-ray version but there is going to be some pissed off people who see no reason to spend an extra $300 on a BD player...

Well, I'll be getting the Blu-ray version as well, but as that article says, this is probably something studios will do more in the future.

We are already getting tons of BDs with additional features not on the DVD...but a release like The Incredible Hulk, that has had numerous discussions about the deleted scenes being very import...well, that's a good way to move some BD discs. So glad I'm getting the Blu-ray version of this - hopefully it holds up on repeat viewings.

I'm just glad there not cutting features from the Blu-ray like Universal has done for nearly every Universal BD release to date (with the exception of Miami Vice). Its a good change of pace.

I think that's a step in the right direction for Blu-ray. I'll be picking this up. If it gets just one person to buy a Blu-ray player then it worked.
