Microsoft announces Netflix and LIVE watching on the 360

Neflix is Microsoft's new media partner. Users will be able to watch the entirety of Netflix's film library directly from their Xbox 360s, and movies and TV shows can be shared with the avatar-based community called Live Party, just announced earlier this morning.

Microsoft's John Schappert said that there would be no additional cost imposed on the Netflix service beyond the regular Netflix subscription costs.
Ouch. I have no doubt that PS3 will also probably get this feature as well (maybe announced tomorrow), but the fact that you can watch 10,000+ Netflix movies (with HD versions coming eventually) for free, with others is a small slap in the face to Disney and their Movie Chat feature (which will probably be 10 times better...but still). Obviously the quality will not be as good as Blu-ray, but free movies = less reason to buy them.

LIVE Party system. Create a party of up to eight friends, and stay with them from one game to another, or watch a Netflix movie together, or share a slideshow of your personal photos. It works with all Xbox 360 titles, not just upcoming games. LIVE Party allows up to eight people to chat in the dashboard, so you can meet up before playing.
Also

New display support. Because you asked for it, we are adding 16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440x900 or 1680x1050.
