Problems with ps3 2.36 firmware update?

Anybody here anything about the new firmware update for the ps3 causing certain dvds not to work? I was on another forum and some people were saying that Weeds S3 wasnt working on their PS3 with the new update but tried it on another ps3 with the previous update on it and it worked fine. just wondering.

We watched all of S3 over the past week with the new firmware and had no problems.

I haven't heard anything about certain DVDs not playing,
but I did read someone having problems with his PS3 fan spinning higher than usual
and therefore making more noise, after the update. I am waiting for further reports before installing this update.
Don't need a noisy PS3:-)

When was this update? I keep my Xbox 360 always hardwired so I don't have my PS3 aways wired to get an update. How often do they do them and is there a way to get email updates when they do do them so I can hook it up.

Not sure if this helps, but you can download them and install updates via a USB drive.

Here's the update page

I haven't noticed any issues after updating to the new firmware, but I'm pretty new with the PS3 to pick up a problem anyway. I must say though, that after dealing with firmware hassles with AVR's, HD-DVD players, etc. over the past few years, the ease with which I set up my PS3 on my home network, and subsequently download firmware updates, is very refreshing.

I have the new firmware installed and have had no issues...although I only use my PS3 for games and Blu-rays, not standard DVDs. It's certainly no louder than before.

No issues so far, but I'm playing most of my discs on my LG BH200 now so I've only played a couple on there in recent weeks.

It might be worth noting which version of the PS3 you have when reporting issues (or lack of issues). Maybe the problems only occur with certain models.

Was watching Weeds S3 over the weekend without a problem, and I have all the updates.
