So.... How Many HD-DVDs In Your Collection Now?
 

With the clearance sales from international retailers such as ezyDVD.au and DVD.uk dating from February, the Hollywood Video PVD clearance in March, the recent blow-out $5.99 sale from iNetVideo, and this month's 20% off sales at DD and DVDPlanet.... just how large is your HD-DVD collection now?

PS - Count each physical HD-DVD disc as 1. For example, the Harry Potter Box Set has 5 HD-DVDs in it, so it would count for 5.

For myself, I have 109 unique titles, some of which are box sets. The box sets contribute an additional 35 extra discs, so I have a total of 144 physical HD-DVD discs in my collection.

(According to DVD Profiler, back when I made my first clearance sale purchase from ezyDVD.au, I had only 42 unique titles, plus 11 extra box set discs, for a total of 53 physical HD-DVD discs. That means my collection has grown nearly 3.5x - from 42 to 144.)

95 releases, 120 discs (not counting the SD DVDs in the Blade Runner set). Before clearance sales, only 20.

I've got 80 or so... I plan on keeping them until the player dies. I used a separate player for region-free DVDs, so I see no reason to be bothered by using a separate HD player; plus I love the upconversion on my XA1.

Currently at 77 according to DVDSpot (counting the Matrix titles separately but the four Jack Ryan movies in one set). So technically 80.

I expect that number to decrease somewhat as Blu-Ray editions are released of the Jack Ryan movies, Transformers, Mummy films, but some I expect to be there for a while as I can't imagine Universal would re-release them anytime soon on Blu or there won't be a compelling reason to upgrade. Also, on stuff like Training Day, the HD DVD is superior so I'll be keeping that one.

I was originally as high as 150-something, but I used the BOGO sales during the holidays to replace many of my WB HD DVD's with Blu-Ray. I also purged a lot of non-essential Uni stuff and have any dual-release Paramount titles as Blu now.

I did pick up a few from the recent DDD sale, but I am going to hold off on any more as I am happy with what I have, and Uni seems to be announcing re-releases fairly frequently.

Bought my player from Walmart for $100, and won another one from a Toshiba sweepstakes in Home Theater magazine.

So all in all I am happy with my investment in HD-DVD (and will enjoy the players as upconverters if nothing else). I've got a nice mix of favorites, haven't seen/don't own on DVD, and otherwise decent flicks. Might buy some more if I can get them for <$10, otherwise I'd rather wait for a decent deal on Blu-Ray (where my price point seems to be about $10-$15 for movies I like, and up to $20 for movies I love. Can't see myself buying too many full price Blu-Rays at $25-$30 or more, but hopefully the prices will come down over the next few years.

Still have over 300 HD DVDs but I haven't bought anything new since the Toshiba announcement. My blu-ray collection has just surpassed my HD DVD collection since all of the 20% sales.

Around 36.. Spent around $293 not counting Hardware costs.

I still have about 30 or so. I replaced several titles during the BOGO deals, but since then I can't bring myself to do it until they're $10 or less. Maybe if I get to within 2 or 3 of finishing them off, I'll just get it over with, but until then I'll insist on a bargain bin price. I figure it will be at least a couple of years before I can retire the HD DVD player.

I have right around the same amount and half of them came from the inetvideo sale.

By next week when all my packages arrive maybe 230?

Well FWIW I got most of mine day and date - no regrets.

I have the 5 free, plus 6 that I bought for less than $14 a piece.

But last week I got a Blu-Ray Player and I already have 10 of those... so I doubt I'll be getting any more HD-DVD unless its a really good deal.

I've got just over 200. That's probably it though. In fact, my Blu-ray collection just caught up with my HD-DVD collection.

I own 76 different HD-DVD titles. I've watched 19 of them, and have 57 left to watch as of this moment.

How much did it cost me investment wise? I'd guess around $600. If I had to do the math it might be a little less or a little more... but that should be a pretty fair estimate. The majority of my titles are ones I got for $5 or $7.50 a piece at Hollywood Video (raised to around $6 or $9 with buying replacement cases), and I got a lot of titles for $5.99 or $7.99 from inetvideo (with their free shipping promotion). A couple of titles I paid more for: some of my Warner titles like Superman: The Movie, Superman 2: The Richard Donner Cut, and Enter the Dragon cost me around $12.50 each. Plus the Star Trek: Season 1 set cost me $50 from Amazon.ca.

My player was basically free. I returned an up-converter I had just purchased a while back in order to get the HD-A2 for $100 at Best Buy. It cost me $30 cover the difference but I got The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut, and Hot Fuzz HD-DVD's for free with the promotion and got my $50 Gift Card from Best Buy in the mail (making the actual investment to High Definition be in my favor).

I don't have any regrets regarding my HD-DVD collection. There are still a few more titles I want and after that I will move on to collecting Blu-Ray titles. My HD-DVD collection is pretty large though and I got everything at awesome prices. It's been a good investment.

About 100 more or less- don't even have an HDTV yet but figure I better get all the cheap new/sealed HD-DVDs while I can. I've been trying to get every combo title put out since they're kind of an oddity and I think that was the biggest advantage HD had over Blu-Ray- I've got every Universal combo title either on the shelf or coming in the mail, except for Atonement which was their last one.

I must be one of the few who is going in the opposite direction. I had over 235 hd-dvds. I am down to about 140 and about 7-8 of those are dups. I still have a A2 and A35. I thought about picking up more titles with all these sales but decided not to. I may in the future or just may try and get rid of the rest of them.

My blu-ray collection went from basically 4-5 titles to over 130 titles in the last 3-5 months. I am averaging about $12.60 per blu-ray title.

I haven't gotten rid of any of my HD DVDs, but I haven't bought any since I grabbed Eastern Promises more than five months ago. I'm not opposed to getting more, but I've been so inundated with Blu-ray discs lately that I haven't had the motivation.
