For me I am still collecting esp some of them are very cheap and I'd rather get it on HD DVD than regular DVD.

Its amazing some places still sell some HD DVDs at a regular price. One of the HD DVD I am waiting for is Planet Earth. Some store have them on sale for like 15% off.

Just bought nine HD-DVD's with the inetvideo deal. Six dollars for HD DVD's with free shipping...why not? My HD player isn't broke and it still looks and sounds amazing, so for $6 I'll budge.

I just picked up a few from the DDD 20% sale that wound up being about $10 each. Stuff I have a feeling won't see a BD re-release anytime soon.

If the price is low enough I will keep buying them. I still have two devices that can play them and have to hope those will last for some time. Haven't had the best of luck with the Toshibas though.

I pretty much finished out the HD-DVDs I wanted. There's are a precious few left that I'd still bite on at under $10. Still waiting.

With the inetvideo deals, and a few from the DD sale, I'm probably done with the Universal HD DVD titles, but I do have a few Warner HD DVD titles that I still want to get if the price is right (below $8-$9 including shipping on average).

There are a handful of Warner titles I'd still like to get, but the prices have yet to drop to an acceptable level. Seems like all the really dirt cheap bargains are for every studio but WB!

Still? I just started. The best (or perhaps cheapest) time to get into HD-DVD was when the format died, which is what I did. I bought the Xbox 360 addon for $50. I have since bought about 20 titles and suspect my per-title cost is around $5-$10.

I always keep my eyes open for new or used HD-DVD's of films I don't own on DVD (especially if they are really cheap).

Yeah, my order of preference when buying a movie is: HD DVD, Blu-ray then SD.

The HD DVD choice is obviously becoming limited.

Have about 95 discs right now, and a D3 player, but still no HDTV to hook it up to yet. I collect dead formats (I have EVERY movie ever put out on CED videodisc!) so grabbing all the cheap HD-DVDs while they're out there and will save $ for the TV to watch them on afterwards. Don't know if I'll be able to get every HD-DVD title, but I'm at least trying to get all the combo discs since those are kind of an oddity, and was one feature I liked about the format from the beginning since you could watch them on your old system right away then watch them in HD when you upgraded. If they were smart they could have won the format war with these, if they hadn't priced them higher than regular HD-DVDs and made cheaper DVD-only discs available at the same time.

My only worry is whether the player I have will last- I have a feeling it won't be as easy to fix as CED players are!

I bought a new player at costco for $85 soon after the format died, and am very happy I did so since the discs are so cheap. I've gotten a couple great deals recently through Hastings' buy 2 get 1 or $0.01 deal:

King Kong + Black Snake Moan + Sopranos season six II = $21.19!

Children of Men + Miami Vice + The Bad Sleep Well (Criterion) = $21.19!

When the format first died, I told myself that I would still collect HD-DVD, and take advantage of the low prices that were going to come as a result. But that just hasn't proven to be the case. Especially since I went ahead and bought a PS3, I just can't bring myself to invest any more in HD-DVD. I don't exactly have a ton of money, so I just feel like I should put that toward deals for what has turned out to be the real HD successor, Blu-ray.

I think the fact that my 360 ended up dying on me and I had to send it back to Microsoft in one of their coffins also swayed me from continuing with HD-DVD.

Laser Movies

I quit buying HD-DVDs and sold off my Toshiba player and entire collection of about 50 discs several months ago after the format war ended. I didn't see many more HD-DVD movies I wanted, and couldn't justify having a HD-DVD player taking up space for only a few movies. Most of what I owned was also available on Blu-ray. I have already replaced many of those titles when I can get them on sale. I figure what is not available will eventually get released on Blu-ray in the future. Even though I liked HD-DVD I have no regrets getting out.

Yup, especially with the sales. Couldn't justify paying $15 - $20 for a movie on Blu when I can get it for $5 on HDDVD.
