I figured Lion's Gate would release this eventually. Now where is Glengarry Glen Ross?!

I am very pleased with this news. I think the DVD I have is non-anamorphic. This would be a welcome upgrade.

That's kind of an odd choice at this point.

Why? After waiting all these years for the anamorphic DVD, I didn't get it when it finally came because I was into HDM and I figured it would be on BD at some point. The music should sound great. It looks like it's going to be my first Lionsgate catalog title since last year.

Bought the SD Anniversary Edition for $4 at Best Buy last year, however, this was one I've been waiting for. I'm sure the audio on this will be top-notch. Underrated movie, Kilmer completely turns into Jim Morrison and I love Crispin Glover as Andy Warhol.

And I second the Glengarry Glen Ross love. Even if the audio would be dialogue-driven, it doesn't look too hot upconverted and would buy it.

Hope the PQ along with AQ on The Doors will be exceptional, though I do notice the track record of BD releases fm Lionsgate have been quite good so far.

"Belly" is also getting released at the same time. I think I'm too old to even consider watching this movie which stars DMX and was quite popular during its theatrical release as well. From DVD Empire, I actually thought they made a typo and were releasing "Bully."

I made a blind buy of the recent dvd edition and sold it soon after, just a warning for anyone thinking of doing the same. I really disliked the film, which surprised me, as I am an Oliver Stone fan.

My thoughts on the movie aside, I hope they fix the print, especially the nasty snag that happened at one point during the movie, before the Blu.

Glengarry Glenn Ross has a terrific jazz score. Sure, there are no gunshots or explosions, but the soundtrack is more than just dialogue-driven.

This is one I've been hoping for, as well. However, I too am crossing my fingers that Lions Gate will finally do this one right -- all of the various DVD iterations of The Doors have been pretty lousy, picture-quality-wise. We shall see!

Blu-ray.com has listed that this will have a DTS-HD MA 7.1 track!

Doesn't look too hot indeed. I just watched my SD finally and couldn't believe how horrible it looked, it was fairly distracting. Excellent film that would be an automatic release day buy for me.

Re: The Doors 8/12

There was recently a release outside of the US titled The Final Cut which is actually 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical. Anyone have additional info on this?

Is it the UK version, because as far as I know, that's the same final cut as the U.S.. I think the only difference is that the UK edition has an extra disc with a documentary that the U.S. set does not have.

*The U.S. version of the final cut is also 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical cut.

The 4-disc UK version is the way to go. Awesome set. It includes the new transfer on Blu-ray also which the US doesn't. The US version gives U the old non Final Cut Blu-ray.

#1 4K UHD Final Cut (also includes Theatrical) w/ new features
#2 Blu-ray Final Cut (also includes Theatrical) w/ new features
#3 Old Special Features
#4 When You Are Strange documentary Blu-ray

US version
#1 4K UHD Final Cut (also includes Theatrical) w/ new features
#2 Old Blu-ray

It's twice the price, unfortunately. The artwork is also just as ugly, even on the SteelBook version.

Yeah but this is one of my favorite movies of all time, so it was worth it to me.

The Steelbook has:
#1 4K UHD Final Cut (also includes Theatrical) w/ new features
#2 Old Special Features
#3 When You Are Strange documentary Blu-ray

But... are all the included Blu discs in the UK set region A friendly? If so, I'll pick up the UK set.

I believe it's Studio Canal, and they tend to be Region B locked.
