I can understand storing titles by genre, director, by year or even alphabetical, but by the production company for the home video release?

I don't do it, but some people like to put the Criterion titles together, even if the other distributors' titles aren't.

I store mine by studio and then have a shelf for television

Just wanted to point out that the blu-ray of "Ran" is no longer up on Criterion's site in the Coming Soon section.

Are these the same types of cases as their previous releases?

Did they move it to a New Release section? I don't know.

I don't see how they could delay it/cancel it. I'm really looking forward to it's release. Maybe they removed it's listing until they sort out all the bonus features inclusion issues.

"Benjamin Button" is now up at Criterion's website! I still don't have enough posts to put in the URL properly.

Re: Criterion releases on Blu-Rays

Considering they didn't even mention The Last Emperor winning Best Picture on the front or back of the BD packaging, it's surprising that they're mentioning "Academy Awards" so much for Benjamin Button. Then again, it's a newer release, and it's probably studio influence.

While we're on the subject of Kurosawa, should i buy the SD version of Seven Samurai or hold out for a possible Blu-ray release that may or may not come?
