Sweet.

The week after my birthday. In for one :)

This one was an ABSOLUTE blast. Just put this in a set with Rambo and you have Grindhouse 2. A load of fun, with plenty of great little references to virtually every great 80's sci-fi/action movie ever.

This is one movie that I'm actually curious to see if it gets an unrated release. Some of the gore is insane in this film.
Spoiler:
Roast human feast, numerous decapitations and amputations, and possibly the best shotgun kill of the decade involving HALF of someone's head being blown apart.

Oh, and I laughed hysterically with glee when the main bad guy's head came flying at the screen during the should-be-more-famous-than-right-now car chase set to Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Two Tribes".

So yeah, I'm definitely grabbing it and hopefully will get my friends to watch it.

Yeah, I thought this was pretty good. You had the all different periods of time thrown in their and it was very entertaining. I don't think better than Dog Soldiers or The Descent, but still good.

This is going to be a great title to see how well it sells. It bombed at the box office but being Universals first Blu title...will people buy it anyway just for the "LOL Blu-ray won!!!" factor? I just hope Sarah Marshall is on its way Universal.

QFT...even if this means the male frontal nudity will be unnecessarily clearer than it'd be in SD. :D

I thought it was pretty much assured it would day-and-date with the DVD, especially with its decent box office for a comedy. (Although obviously it doesn't have Knocked Up or The 40-Year Old Virgin numbers).

I really didn't like this in the theatres, but I may have been too tired when I saw it, so I'll at least give it a rent on disc. I love Neil Marshall's other movies (and the whole Grindhouse aesthetic) but this one didn't click for me...I had really high hopes for it though, which sometimes get in the way of me enjoying a movie for what it ends up being, until a second viewing when my expectations have already been dashed and I can enjoy a flick for what it is.

Yes, they said all new releases, starting with Doomsday, will be day & date BDs. A policy Fox still doesn't completely follow.

Check out Universal's new BD cover art in the OP.

tonymontana313 05-15-08 06:19 PM

Yikes, that is one crazy looking cover!

Specs added to OP.

Gizmo 05-20-08 01:44 AM

Cool looking cover. Dont know about the movie though. Looks kinda like Grindhouse.

Cosmic Bus 05-20-08 07:46 AM

Looks more or less like a cropped theatrical one-sheet; the rest of the poster was just red, so nothing of interest was lopped off.

I can't even begin to imagine what "unrated" means in this instance, given what was already in the movie!

Sorry Mr. Cinema don't want to hijack your thread.

I may blind buy this one. My friend loved it, he has questionable taste though. Anybody care to chime in about this movie?

Its the British version of Grindhouse Cinema, my only complaint was it felt like two or three genres of films put together. But it was lot of fun watching it. I can't imagine what else could be in the unrated cut though, its pretty graphic already.

tylergfoster 06-30-08 01:56 AM

It was alright, although fairly familiar. The only thing I didn't like is this, and while I hate when critics complain about this in Doomsday it really was a problem: the hand-to-hand combat in the movie is cut so ADD-fast it practically strobes on the screen.

Other than that, it might be a good renter. I wouldn't run out and buy until you've given it a go though.
