My First Blu-Ray buy
 

I just upgraded my PC with a BD-ROM drive & a high-end video card, installed the drive today, wanted one movie to have here to try out with it, from the selection the store had, I went with I Am Legend. Haven't watched it all yet, but so far I like it.

I'm sorely tempted to order the Blade Runner set from Amazon with their incredible price, but I already have the 4 DVD set.

I have in mind buying the Discovery Channel's series "When We Left Earth", 2001, probably Close Encounters (I think you can see my taste for Sci-Fi), but the main thing is to stop buying new-to-video titles on DVD. Will be checking here often for deals on Blu-Ray titles.

Very happy so far with the PC playback system, PowerDVD comes bundled with the drive, seems to play my disc 'effortlessly'.

Got 14 HD DVD's fro inetvideo.ca yesterday, and promptly ordered another 13 after noticing some titles were down to $3.99. Also got NBK on Blu-ray from Amazon yesterday.

My faith in eBay has been restored!

I almost never look on eBay to buy anything. I've continued to list items but I just gave up on buying. It just got to the point where it wasn't worth my time out of fear of getting screwed over. Anyway, since I dived into Blu-ray last week I heard that you could get great deals on Half.com so I gave that a try. I first put down orders for Juno, Surf's Up, and Hairspray to see how things would go on Half. Well, it turned out to be perfect in every way. I got brand new items for around $10-$12 each.

Since I had such good luck there, I decided to give eBay itself a shot once again. It just so happened that right as I was checking the Blu-ray auctions that were ending soonest, a single seller (almost 7,000 feedback with 100%) had three movies (listed as brand new and sealed) that were ending about 10 minutes apart. The prices were really low and the seller mentioned that they would combine shipping costs for multiple items, so I placed bids for all three of the Blu-rays - 30 Days of Night, Enchanted, and Gone Baby Gone.

Since that was such a great to me, I decided to email them and ask if they would have any other brand new and sealed Blu-rays listed on eBay anytime soon. They emailed me right back and said yes, and gave me a list of different titles. They said they'd sell them to me for $10 each plus $2 shipping. They said to just send the money through PayPal for all that I wanted, and that they would ship them all together.

Anyway, the end result was me getting the following for $12 each:

-30 Days of Night
-Enchanted
-Gone Baby Gone
-No Country For Old Men
-Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
-Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
-Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Not only were every single one of them legit and brand new and sealed, but the three PotC releases even had the freakin' slipcovers. I know it's not wise to buy things from someone on eBay without going straight through eBay, and I'd never recommend doing so, but this seemed too good to pass up. Luckily for me, it was totally legit.

I'm jealous!
