Yeah, I see what you're saying... The resolution of HD tapes, be it for 50hz or 60hz systems, are no different.

I just went back an double checked the HDCAM-SR 5500 manual I have downloaded and double checked the tape playback formats. Although, I would like to not that 720P looks to be strictly a 60hz format.

Either I am persistant, or I am lucky.. I think I am a little bit of both!! So I went to my local BB on Mon,Wed, and tonight..I have been going to see if they restock the movies I am still trying to add to my new library... because they are getting in new shipments... anyways, I was really close to buying a Toshiba A-30 for $129 at BB on wed,,but decided to wait..I have an XBOX HD add on, so I do not "need" a stand alone. The other day there was 2 A-3's left, and 1 A-35...so when I walked in to BB tonight, they just so happen to be putting an A-35 on the floor with a big clearance sticker on it... So somebody bought it yesterday and returned it today because he/she did not know they were being discontinued...so it was marked down to $99..and I asked is that the best price you can give me for it.. Manager was called over and he said how about $79...and I said ok.. I then asked them if the 2 free movies were inside? (300&bourne) We opened it up and they werent..So he walked over to the HD DVD rack and grabbed them both and put them in the box! So I got it for $79 with 2 brand new movies!! I think that is about as great a deal as anyone can get...just yesterday this player in my hands was in BB and sold for $149..What do you guys think???

Thanks Patman! I just won a Monster Ultra 800 HDMI 8 ft cable for $25 dollars on Ebay!! Best buy has this cable for $116!!!! Now I will be set to see the full potential of this player.. My luck streak continues.. I think I might have to go hit a casino since I am in " Sin City"! LOL

The shortest one I could find on there was a 6ft. I have my Toshiba HD-A35 sitting on top of my Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH so I only need a very short cable. It's only a few inches away.

you get what you pay for in most cases...although, there is pretty good reviews.. I cant complain for winning a monster cable that was $116 for $25 shipped:) i will give it a try for future cables and see how it goes. Thanks

Hey Dan, The monster cable at $25 is a good deal. Of course most people can't just go immediatlely to a site find that price and instantly buy it. At Monoprice you can. They are known for having very high quality cables and having great prices. The Monster cables look a little better but once you hook them up, you won't see them so looks don't really matter. If you can get the same (or better in some cases) quality cable for $7 shipped instead of paying $80 or more then Monoprice is the way to go.

I already saw something I will need to buy from them soon... the HDMI 4 to 1 box...so I can hook up all my stuff by HDMI..

The Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH has that 4 to one built in.

The Fry's in Vegas has anywhere from 30 - 50 titles of each Weinstein title in stock, especially with Scary Movie 4 and School For Scoundrels.

I picked up Bourne Ultimatum for $17 last night at Wal-Mart. Didn't care for the other few $17 titles (American Gangster, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, or I Now Pronounce...). Didn't see any of the $12 titles people have been mentioning.

Those Category 1 and Category 2 designations are pure marketing bullshit. They're the exact same cables, but only one of them was "tested" at 1080p, so they charge more for it. The other one wasn't tested. That's the only difference. Any decent HDMI cable can transmit 1080p video and up to 8 channels of uncompressed PCM. A cable that can't do that doesn't meet the HDMI specification.

Further, there is no difference between an HDMI cable and an "HDMI 1.3" cable. They're the same cable, labelled and priced differently. The HDMI 1.3 revision takes place in the transmitter and receiver chips in the electronic devices, not in the cable.

The revision is in the connections in the devices, not the cable.
