New Panasonic DMP-BD30 firmware is out, corrects low LFE output

As expected, Panasonic has released new firmware for the DMP-BD30 Blu-ray player. Version 1.6 has a few bug fixes, but most significantly corrects the low LFE problem, as well as the flicker associated with some Samsung HDTVs. You can download the firmware here.

Got it and now I am watching Black Hawk Down to test. Sounds great.

I'm so excited - I just called Tweeter and found out that my DMP-BD30 is finally in after ordering it 3 weeks ago. My first Blu Ray player since I was waiting out the format war. Two and a half more hours until I get off work...

You made a great choice. The BD30 is by far the best standalone player. It is a very solid unit that has played all of my discs flawlessly. It loads Java discs almost as fast as the PS3. Please tell me you have some discs ready to test.

Just Cars I picked up at Costco - but I'll be picking up 1 more on the way home for sure.

Plus I got the player for a great price - free - well not really; I used a $600 gift card I won by playing a little plastic guitar.

I'd get a live action movie since you already got an animated one.

I Am Legend
Pirates: Dead Man's Chest, At World's End
Spider-Man 3
Live Free or Die Hard
Casino Royale
I, Robot
No Country for Old Men
The Rock
Resident Evil: Extinction
Harry Potter 5

All of those are very highly rated titles. There's alot more, but those are off the top of my head.

Thanks! I've looked over the tiered list they've got at the avsforum that's linked from here and I'm probably going to pick something from there.

Edit: Picked up the player and Casino Royale yesterday. A real nice step up from DVD.
