Wow, now that will be a sweet one. Wasn't this movie 1.33? I've been wondering how they're going to do their older movies with the old box ratio. Snow White would be another great addition. I hope that comes somewhat soon.

The principle is the same as it is with 2.35:1 movies - you fill in the extra space with black. In this case, they'll just use bars on the sides.

That's what I thought. Just wondering if they had planned on any weird sort of cropping or expanding.

Bummer for me

I never liked the older Disney animated films. I guess it will be a few years before we get Beauty and the Beat, Aladdin, Toy Story etc. right? I could have sworn Beauty was be "released from the vault" in Spring 2009.

considering the only other DVD release was generaly hideous looking, I am hoping the Disney restoration for the Platinum Edition looks stellar. Looks like I might have to retire/sell my Special Edition laserdisc (until I see the final specs/supplement material).

Man, I wish they would speed up the BD releases for the classics... This waiting is going to drive me insane.

So I guess they'll be limiting their platinums to two a yr... I'm hoping they'll release the others sooner rather than later. I really just want Tarzan, Atlantis, Emperor's New Groove and Lilo.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!?! I'll be picking up the Blu-ray. I hope they speed up their Pixar catalog too. One old and one new a year isn't a bad pace, but I'm impatient.

Not every movie gets the "Platinum" banner, so stuff like The Aristocats and such comes out on a separate schedule. I would kill for Emperor's New Groove and Lilo And Stitch on Blu-ray.
