Anyone plan on buying the T2 German import HD-DVD?

Word on the street this is the Terminator 2 HD disc to own. It puts the blu-ray and UK/French HD-DVDs to shame.

Now I buy tons of imports but the price tag on this one is a bit steep.

Any of you hardcore HD-DVD importers taking the plunge?

Are the extras going to be in HD, or in English for that matter?

Don't know yet. I think I'll probably hold off until I read some reviews.

I watched the little trailer for it in your link - it looks like the extras are written in German, which sucks cause they look cool, but I'd imagine the PIP commentary will be in English?

Eh, I've thrown down for LD, 2 DVDs, and the French HD DVD, so I'm sure I'll scrape the wallet for this one too if the transfer is supposedly better.

Not me... the French HD DVD will have to do until the inevitable Blu re-issue.

I've already got the current BD version, and I'll wait for an eventual special edition re-issue. The Terminator movies are one of the series that I'm a sucker for (along with Star Wars, LOTR, The Evil Dead trilogy, and The Princess Bride). I own almost every release of every one of those movies, since each one features just enough unique extras to make me not want to sell them.

I'm interested in it, although I wonder if it will even come out at this point. I'll have to wait a month to find out I suppose.

I am interested in that and the steel book Death Proof. Hopefully they are still coming.

No interest in purchasing any more HD-DVDs. I don't think the BD is as bad as it's made out to be, and you know this will be a flagship title on BD when the rerelease comes out.

I'll probably pick it up. As long as it contains all the rumored extras and isn't too expensive(I won't shell out more than 40 bucks).

I've stopped buying HD DVDs, but I'll buy the T2 set if it actually gets released. Not only do I expect it to be a great disc, but it will be a neat collectors item too. Plus my HD DVD player isn't going anywhere. I'm seriously considering running out and buying a couple of backup players this weekend to put away - not just for my HD DVDs, but because I love how well they upconvert.

Odds are it's the same video transfer, right? I'm not into extras. I just want the extended cut, so I'll probably order the UK one sometime since it seems ot be cheapest.

I believe that it's actually not supposed to be the same transfer, but others surely know more than I do.

This disc sounds like it's all new from the ground up (including transfer).

Some screenshots of its coolness:

Review:

From what I can gather through Babelfish, the transfer is only minimally better than the other HD versions of T2 already out there, but the reviewer seems to think it will go OOP quick due to interest from US customers.

I'm still waiting for my Aussie version (honestly don't even know which transfer was used for it) from EzyDVD. It's bear bones, but it was cheap and I can't afford to shell out big bucks for the German import.

I'm more likely to buy Death Proof first.

That AU version was listed as being Theatrical length or shorter. No sale. I want the German one, but I'll probably wait a bit in hopes of a price drop. It's like $60 US, isn't it?

The Australian disc is the extended cut. It's the same disc released in England, and the same as Disc 2 of the French set.

I ordered this just before the weekend. I read the reviews on AVS Forums, but I wasn't completely convinced of some of the posters saying the Kinowelt T2 Version is slightly softer than the French/UK release. Problem is it all depends on the screenshots and screenshots tend to be misleading in some cases, so I'm keeping my order.

Review up at HD Digest

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/681/terminator2_ge.html

I have the French one, and I don't think i am going to be double dipping on any HD DVD's, the French extended cut will do for me.

I'd say if you already have the other HD version, then yes, this "Utimate" version isn't much unless you want all the extras. I might get the French extended disc just for the hek of it to compare myself. But I have to wonder if the sharpness from the Canal release was due to more sharpening than what was necessary. But I don't know at all until I get the disc myself and give my thoughts on it. Just from the Imagion webpage though, the crystal clear images of the screenshots on the HDi sections are nothing short of amazing and stellar.

I have this pre-ordered. The only thing on my wish list was that all the enhanced features were in English. Hopefully they do update that with an English language track.
This disc will surely send HD DVD out with a bang and owning it is a must for me.

ezydvd cancelled t2 hd-dvd orders, and it's not on the site any more at all.
