National Treasure and NT: Book of Secrets on BD 5/20/08

As we reported earlier this week, specs for 'Book of Secrets' include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 transfer and an uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround track (at 48kHz/24-bit).

Extras shared between the Blu-ray and DVD versions include a host of material, including audio commentary, multiple making-of featurettes and a blooper reel. Exclusive to the Blu-ray will be an additional featurette and deleted scenes.

There were no specs available for the original 'National Treasure' at press time, but the studio is expected to issue a full media release for both titles in the coming weeks. We'll keep you posted.

Sounds good to me. For some reason I was under the impression that the first National Treasure film was already released on BD, but I guess I was wrong. I only paid $9.99 for my used copy of that film a few years ago, so I'm fine upgrading. Haven't seen the sequel but I really enjoyed the first one. Looking forward to them both!

A family favorite in my house. This is one we'll be upgrading. I'd buy NT2 just for the Goofy short

Oh, man! I hadn't even considered how excellent that short will look on BD! And of course the movie is great fun in its own right. Anyone on the fence, if you liked the first one, you will like the second as well. And Goofy just sweetens the deal significantly.

No brainer purchase for me as well. Disney should knock both titles out of the park with stellar transfers.

I'll be buying both as well. Nice to see Disney giving them both at the same time. Now where the hell is Sin City?
