i'll be elated if it happens by the 27th. i ordered mine from amazon and it shipped on Dec 27th, so if the price drops before then i can get refunded the difference. otherwise, i'll be pissed along with you.

If the price drops and you have purchased within the last 30 days just go to the store and get the difference returned to you.

Makes sense...but with the 5 free ending on 1/31, and Toshiba continuing with theres, I assume so will the BDA. I want to see what new movies the selections would be.

If BB uses the new MSRP for the A3, I'm in for sure. I need one for upstairs.

Edit: BB has the A3 at $149.99 plus the 9 HD-DVDs. I'm in once I find one of these coupons.

Hell, if I had the extra money, I would jump on that HD-DVD player even though it's kinda like climbing aboard a sinking ship (I still have a life raft called Blu-ray). It's basically a free player once you factor in the value of the movies.

They've got 3 open A30s at my BB, but they're all marked at $179.99. I'd be all over one for $129.

Doesn't the coupon exclude open-box items?

I think Best Buy has a ton of "stupid" CSR and Managers. I think the chances are good if someone tries it on a Sunday morning.

Gizmo, you sound pissed for some reason. If someone wants to try it, let 'em. If it works, great. If not, what do they lose? Now, at the same time, if it doesn't work, don't come here and complain...

I've decided not to try and hope that the price drop is true. If it isn't, oh well. I can wait until Fall/Winter '08 like I had planned originally.

Am I missing something? Why doesn't everyone here that is talking about buying a PS3 just buy it from Sony Style using the Sony credit card? You get $100 off the PS3 if you buy it that way??????????????

IDK, maybe people don't want to sign up for another credit card (I don't). Also (and this is just me), I want to get it in store in case something is wrong (within the return policy time) so I can take it back and exchange it rather than paying decent money to return it to Amazon (or Sony) and have to wait to get another one...

Some Americans (I know, they're becoming fewer and fewer...) actually still care about their credit!

Got the coupon in the mail today. If anybody is in the midwest (because you probably wouldn't get it in time if any farther away) and wants it, let me know and I'll mail it out in the morning.

I got the HD-A30 Sunday and their system wouldn't let me use a 12% off coupon. The cashier tried it several times and consulted a manager. Apparently, because of the special 9 free HD-DVD offer it didn't work with it because the 12% off is "not valid with any other offer" (I assume what killed it was the two free ones from the store). The 20% off coupon (which I now have) says the same thing. I suppose someone may be able to get someone at BB to override and allow it so YMMV, I guess.

The HD-A30 for $199.99 with 9 free movies (two of which I could pick out in the store - got the Zodiac DC and Eastern Promises) made it worth it to me, even though they wouldn't take the coupon.

A phone call to 1-888-BEST-BUY says that they will honor the coupon on the PS3, and if a store manager refuses, to call them back and they will issue a check or gift card for the difference.

Seriously? That certainly doesn't sound like Best Buy.

That's what they said. A couple other sites have reported similar calls.

Interesting. So it's not ringing up automatically though, right?
