I had plenty of DVD Planet store credit during the 20% off sale, and broke down and bought the first Die Hard against my better judgment- but purposefully held fast and didn't pick up the other two.

Wanted to blind buy At Worlds End last week, but held fast on that too.
It is just a matter of time.

Blu-rays in particular are just not a wise purchase on street date. I've learned my lesson now. Even the $10 I paid for Underworld from Fry's in Oct (which I thought was amazing) could have been bested handily a couple weeks back.

The only Blu-ray movies I am buying has been Day and Dates (Superbad, POTC3) and I just make sure to hold on to the receipt. Way too many movies were BOGO just days after release on the Blu side (20k, Mr and Mrs. Smith, Zorro, Rent) just in the past 2 weeks.

Just keep your receipts! At this time of year returns can be as late as January 31st of 2008...so if you find it cheaper, BUY IT and return that copy with the receipt where you originally paid full price. I have done this several times now with Blu-ray movies.

Eh.

I have a Borders giftcard with a ton of credit on it, so I went ahead and ordered all 3 Die Hards and A vs. P. I'm still undecided if I am going to ever buy Live Free since its the PG13 cut. If its $14...I might have to bite. Might.

RE: AvP

I got off of my lazy ass and popped in the Blu-Ray. When I selected the unrated cut, the display shows a total time of 1hr 48 min, or 108 minutes so it indeed looks like this is the true unrated cut form the 2-disc DVD.

Also, my findings seem to contradict what is stated in the Blu-Ray review here. Maybe the reviewer was unaware of the runtime for the actual Unrated DVD.

So AVP is the unrated cut from the 2 disc? Thats been keeping me from getting it... that and the hope it might be rereleased with AVPR, but I doubt it it will be.

Rented it from Blockbuster (with one of my free online trade-ins) and compared the run times with my unrated collectors edition DVD....both the theatrical and unrated run times match! Also, you can choose to view the six unrated scenes separately as a bonus feature, and the name and length of those six scenes were the same on both the DVD and the Blu-ray as well....

I too was confused because there was conflicting info out on the web about this issue....two reviews claimed it was only the slightly "extended" cut from the first DVD single disc release, including the one here at this site, while three or four other reviews I read said it was the "real" unrated version...I had to be sure before I ordered, so I wanted to verify for my own piece of mind....

damnit the DVDSAVES code isn't working for me...

I should be able to get my standard 10% off, the BOGO offer and the extra 5 dollars off - right (and yes I do own a Amazon visa card).

The code is DVDSAVE5 (with "five" on the end, not an "S").

can the 10% be used as many times as one wants? If so, can't someone just post their discount code so other people could use it?

Yes it is unlimited (until the end of the year I guess), but there is no "code". It is an automatic discount taken at checkout.
