Harry Potter 1-4 Blu-ray vs HD DVD question

Are the extras on the Blu-ray versions in HD as opposed to SD for the HD DVD like on Harry Potter 5?

Gizmo 12-10-07 11:18 PM

Nope. I believe 1-4 on both formats are EXACTLY the same. The only difference is HP5.

Arpeggi 12-10-07 11:20 PM

Ok good, I'm getting the HD DVD versions then.

Supermallet 12-10-07 11:34 PM

Doesn't 4 come with IME on HD but not on BD?

Ahh, yes, you're right.

What is the difference on HP5?

There's a thread dedicated to it, but basically -

HD-DVD Version has IME and Online features, but is missing a fluff documentary and several bonus features are in SD only.

Blu-Ray version has an additional fluff documentary and all bonus features are in HD. No IME/Online Features.

I'm getting both BD and HD-DVD, and trading 4+5 BD and 1-3 HD-DVD (I'm paying $83 for each set).

If there's no differences between 1-3 and you're determined to have 4 and 5 on HD DVD, why wouldn't you just stick with the HD DVD set?

Because 1-3's extras are SD in HD-DVD and HD in BD.

BTW is the extra documentary on just 1 of them or all of them? In which one? Thanks! :)

They're not... I agree, they'll be pretty hard to trade.

mdc3000 12-11-07 06:09 PM

yeah, looking at it in stores, the extras for 1-3 are SD on both Blu-ray and HD DVD...

Ocelot 12-13-07 12:47 PM

Why you guys/gals want the on-line feature? Isn't better w/o it?

Anyhow, GatorDeb, your scheme is complicated, but to each of his/her own...

XavierMike 12-13-07 02:10 PM

Why would it be better w/o more features???

more not necessarily means better, do you perfer lengthy movies like LotR on one disc or two discs (of course, the contents are same, i.e. PQ, sounds, extras etc.)? Anyhow, again, to each of his/her own, but IMO, the on-line feature is a "bug" more than a feature.

Actually, the extras on 1-3 are in SD on both formats.

Oh come on. It is not a bug. Enough with the FUD.

RockStrongo 12-14-07 09:15 AM

A bug?!? Thats ridiculous.

Ocelot 12-14-07 09:27 AM

a bug as in bugging you... not a bug as in a computer program.

seriously, nobody realized that i had bug in quotes? Of course it's not a computer bug silly....
