Toshiba A3 deal w/11 dvd's $171

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...cId=1000167901

It says $199, with 10 free DVD's. 2 come with the unit and you get to pick 3 more from Amazon and there's a mail in form for 5 more. I picked up one more movie, put it all in my cart and the total came out to $171. I'm not sure what happened to $199, but I'll take it.

The downside is that the player doesn't ship till after Christmas.

I just noticed that the player is $159 from Amazon. It looks like it is just still 10 free dvds, they just marked down the player to $159 and you just added another movie or something making everything $171. Price is fluctuating rapidly. Amazon has a 30 day price guarantee, so if it goes down again you can call for a credit of the difference.

Wow, I figured the $160 would last at least through tomorrow. Luckily I got in for $160 late last night.

I got my shipping confirmation today for the dvd's and it appears that I'm being charged $60. Something messed up. I ordered the 3 free ones and threw in a 4th for $19.95. With supersaver shipping, my total should be $19.95. On my account summary online, everything looks fine, it's only in my confirmation e-mail that I see a charge of $60.

edited to add,

I think maybe I'm misreading the ad. It says 10 movies and a player for $199. I assumed the player was $199 and that through a glitch, we were getting the player for $159 and still getting free movies. I guess the player is $159, we pay $40 for 3 movies to get us to the $199. I paid another $20 for another movie which would take me to $219.

Soooooo, the $60 I'm being charged on my dvd's, plus the $160 I'll get charged for the player when it ships, would equal $220. I guess it's all ok in the end.

Although on my account, my total shows as $171 for EVERYTHING, so who knows? They said it was probably a glitch and would get back to me.

$171 should still be your total price. Amazon's price on the A3 has been changing a lot over the past few days. I think it went from $199 to $169 to $159 to $179 and at last check now $177.

I think the reason you're seeing a price attached to the hd-dvds is because they're applying the discount in some kind of prorated way so that people can't return the free dvds for full credit.

Based on the thread over at obesewallet, I jumped on getting a A3. Final shipped cost was $123, which is good, but some were getting as low as $103. I didn't follow the 10 free DVD link, so I'll only get the five on rebate + two in the box. Still happy and now a dual format supporter. Tho truth be told I mainly bought as a solid upconverting DVD player for SD...but a HD DVD here and there will be nice.

Amazon is charging around $50 for the free movies and shipping them separately from the player. They then charge the difference($110) when they ship the player. If you cancel the 3 free movies before they ship out, Amazon deducts the $50 from the $160 and the cost of the player will be around $110. Obviously a glitch. I didn't bother because I actually wanted the 3 movies and $50 is a good price for the trio.

I got in on this for the $159 price, so will finally be entering the HD world. Unfortunately it says it won't ship until after Christmas, so I am debating canceling it. Does anyone know how much of a pain that would be since the 3 dvd's have already shipped? I think it's a good deal, but wouldn't mind just ordering all the James Bond sets instead. (I know, that's a pretty random choice of things)

While it says it won't ship till after Christmas, the Toshiba HD-A3 720p/1080i HD DVD Player page says it will be in stock Dec. 6th. I suspect thats when it will actually ship.

Yeah, I just got this email, after sending an inquiry:

"In this case, since, the item "Toshiba HD-A3 720p/1080i HD DVD
Player" will be In stock on December 7, 2007, I have revised the
Estimated Delivery Date of this item.

The revised Estimated Delivery Date is : December 14, 2007 -
December 17, 2007."

I am still debating canceling, but will probably just hold on. I just wish there were better titles available in the rebate.

Amazon has this back in stock and my order from Thanksgiving is now in the shipping soon phase. I was also billed the proper amount($159.98-$50.05 for the 3 movies=$109.93).

I ordered this at the $187 price on Thanksgiving. It then went down to $159 and I called for a price adjustment. "Lou" the CS Rep had trouble at first because his Amazon page was defaulting to Tiger Direct. Once we cleared that up he told me I will be creditied the difference and to check on the order page in my account.

Turns out the credited me $133 instead of ~$30.

So in the end I paid about $50 for the A3, Hott Fuzz, Departed, and Knocked Up

Ordered Thursday with Prime and it was at my back door Monday afternoon.

Dual format for $50 (with 10 movies). I was welcomed with open arms.

If/when they notice the error, you won't complain about it, right?

$50.00 is sweet.

hell no. i was happy to get the A3 with 10 movies for $159.

Normally I would have felt a little bad, but if Amazon wants to save money by outsourcing US jobs to India, and then try and pull a fast one on me by changing the names of the CS reps, and put me through the misery of trying to deal with someone who I can barely understand and who barely understands me, well.....they made their bed....

I "Paid it Forward" tough. My buddy offered to buy my basically brand new Sony Upconverting player for $75. After this happened I told him to give me $50 and we'll call it even.

If they had made the mistake in the opposite direction (charged you an extra $133) and they found out about it and you did not, do you think they would have an pobligation to contact you and let you know?

If you found out about it a few weeks later and knew that they knew about it and did not rectify it, would you be upset?

What's the difference in that and what you did (not contact them)?

I am not getting into a morality argument with you. I WOULD have caught it, they should have.

I didn't try and deceive them. I am a LOYAL Amazon customer who spends about 5k there/year and has been paying for prime for 2 years. I consider it my customer rewards.

Well I got my 3 movies today, but the player is still listing as shipping after Christmas. I think Dec 7 is more likely but at the least it looks like I have a few weeks to find a deal on Transformers.

Perhaps you do nto want to get into a morality arguement becasue you know there is no way you'd win. Yes, you did not try to deceive them, but they made a mistake that unjustly benefitted you, you are aware of it, the morally correct choice would be to let them know of it.

Customer rewards? LMAO...

Oh, get off your high horse. If you had the same deal you would be bragging about it, too.
