Titanic on TNT HD
 

Titanic looks great. I'm watching it now and even though it's a television broadcast it's probably the clearest I've ever seen the movie. It is edited, of course, but it definitely looks better than the DVD.

Amazon does have a page for Titanic HD DVD. Been thinkin' about the 3-Disc set for $8.99 though.

It looks awesome and i'm sure if you buy it they will announce it on HDDVD ;)

I thought TNT broadcast at 480p for non-sporting events.

Titanic looked at least 720p. I could be wrong but I thought it looked great.

Being that this is the HD forum I assume he was talking about TNT-HD, and yes it was on in HD OAR last night (with the usual pop-ups, commercials, etc, etc).

The Titanic Special Edition looks stunning. I'm torn with some movies. I upgraded Pearl Harbor to the BluRay version however it's the PG13 version only. I have the 4 disc special edition which looks great and has the extended cut with better battle scenes. I can give up the extras, but I hate to give up an extended edition like Die Hard 4 to get the HD version.

And since when would TNT in SD broadcast at 480p (not 480i)?

This is the HD forum, and by default [practically] everything we discuss here is HD related. When we say TNT or HBO, etc, etc, there really is no need to say TNT-HD, HBO-HD, etc. Got it?

Unless they recently changed, TNT-HD does broadcast in 480p (with the exception for sports), as Josh noted.

OAR (2.3:1) or not, it might have been 480p unless they just recently changed their programming resolutions.

EDIT: I cannot find anything official indicating that things have changed from 480p (I only complaining about TNT-HD being 480p, but then again those are mostly older complaints from this summer).

Well that's a new one to me (I don't watch it very often) as I thought everything OAR they broadcast is HD, all things streched are 480i.

In any event they broadcast The Wizard of Oz last week and it looked HD, as they have broadcast it that way many times in the past.

Titanic was definitely broadcast in OAR in High-def on TNT-HD. And TNT-HD regularly shows HD programming (like Closer during the summer).

In OAR? Not cropped at all? Because it seems like a lot of movies get cropped to 1.78:1. I honestly barely even turn the station on.

OAR or not, I was just surprised the audio was in sync for the movie's complete running time. That's TNT's worst problem, if you ask me.

From what I've seen lately they've been playing movies in OAR and not cropping them. They did crop LOTR when it was on awhile back.

Oh good. I thought my Dish box was losing synch. I guess I never thought it was the station. :lol:

Both Titanic this week and The Wizard of Oz last week were in OAR (strangely enough, TWoZ was stretched on TBS HD at the same time)
