Amazon Holiday Customer Vote (Toshiba A-35 HD DVD & Samsung P1400 Blu-ray $149!)

It's a couple of votes in. For those who don't know, Amazon has a limited number of items that are on sale. You vote for which deal you would like best, and Amazon will randomly select people with the offers they selected.

For example, if you select the HD DVD player, you will only be offered the option of buying the HD DVD player at that price, if you're selected. Check back Wednesday November 28th to see if you're offered the deal.

It's also interesting to note that currently the Blu-ray player has 25% of the votes, while the HD DVD player has 46% of votes.

Yeah, it was a tough choice between the Blu Ray, HD DVD, and Tivo HD. I voted Blu Ray, since it was the only one I didnt have. Wii for $79 would be nice, even though I already own one.

I voted for Blu Ray also since I don't have one. Some very nice deals if you beat the odds and get selected.

Wii for $79 will probably win. I voted for PS3 and the Blu-Ray player, though I was really suprised to find the HD-DVD player winning. This whole thing is a joke though as being able to get the deal is damn near impossible...

EDIT: stupid me didn't realize that it will be allowed to "selected voters". That's really cool. Last years Xbox offering was rediculous...

I voted for the same since I have a Toshiba already.

I voted for Wii only because I knew that would be the winner.

Could have more to do that the Toshiba is a much better player than the Samsung and not format.

Anyway cool find. Somebody bump this on the day or my feeble mind will forget!

Voted for the PS3...it'd be nice to have both HD formats, and if the PS3 would have a decent game, I'd buy one of those as well.

Toshiba's top of the 3rd gen line vs some crappy Samsung. Better matchup would be vs one of the Panasonics.

I voted for the PS3 because I'd love to have that for a game system/Blu player at that price.

Based on reviews, I don't think I'd take the Samsung for free.

voted for the toshiba so I dont have to rely on whether my 360 will be working or not when I want to watch a movie.

I don't always check as often as I did when I was searching for a PS3 last year, but I've never seen a Wii for sale direct from Amazon. So I voted for the $79 Wii, but I might even buy one for list if I could find it there.

Voted for the Wii, would rather get a 360, but there was no chance of that winning.

geesus, enough of the bullshit games amazon... just drop your prices.

let me vote now, then check back, then spin around, hold my breath, count backwards from 50, rub my stomach, pat my head, and then hope I get offered the luxury of spending a hundred bucks.

Piss off! (but I did vote for the PS3)

You only get the listed prices on the items that win. There are alternate prices if you voted for, and were selected for an item that didn't win. Still discounted, but not as good...

I swear, if that A35 gets offered my A3 is getting a new home. Even if I have a 1080i TV I just can't resist that.

You're only eligible to be randomly offered the winning price on items that you voted for and that win.

You'd improve your odds of being offered the discount if you waited until just before voting closes on each round and voting for the clear favorite. That would be pointless of course if you wouldn't buy a given item even for the sale price.

I'd rather get the PS3 for the BR capability as opposed to Wii or xbox in round 1, but if the Wii is clearly going to win I might as well vote for it so I'll at least have a chance at being offered the sale.

They normally give you a lax deal on the runner ups. It won't be, for example, a $139 PS3, but maybe a $299 one.

browerjs had already posted a link to where you can find the alternate prices for the "runners up". For those who vote on the PS3, the runner up price for it is $319

One advantage of voting for a runner up is that you're more likely to get the opportunity to buy it at a discount than if you had voted for a clear winner.
