"Angle" message with playing Ratatouille BD

This is weird.

When I play my Ratatouille BD I seem to get an "Angle" message with a camera figure on certain scenes. Its almost like it is telling me I have multiple Angle options for these scenes. At first I thought this was the case but then I could not find an Angle button on my remote. Does BluRay have the Angle function?

I've looked all over the menu and written documentation and I cannot seem to find anything that tells me anything about this message. It doesn't seem to be associated with their Cine-play feature.

I have all the latest firmware upgrades and don't have any other problems with this disk or any others.

Does anyone know what the message is about. I can't get it off the screen when it shows up and it is very irritating.

Thanks in advance.

Telling us what player you have might make things easier.

Disney uses multi-angle to insert multiple languages whenever any text appears on-screen.

But agreed, what player do you have?

Something tells me it's not a PS3.

It is a Samsung BD-P1200. Firmware is updated.

Sorry for the delay.

This is covered on Page 28 of your player's user's manual, under "Changing the Camera Angle."

But I agree that Disney uses the angle feature to display text, etc., in different languages during the film. I think Disney also usually locks out your ability to change angles. The angle is set when you choose the disc's language track when you start watching the movie. (For example, you decide to watch the movie in French. Whenever a sign written in English appears in the film, the angle function may change it to French.)

I had the same player (and problem). Useful guys at AVS gave the easy fix: go into the player Setup menu -> Display -> Screen Messages. Set the on-screen message to off... It hides that annoying message, at the expense of the other on screen messages (minor issue).

It's not like the guys at AVS figured out some super-secret workaround. It's right there in the setup menu and is covered in the owner's manual.

Well, how-to-switch-angles is covered in the manual, but seemingly random "Angle" OSD messages appearing on the screen during disc play (with no user interaction), and no way to remove the message during playback isn't...

In the case of these titles, I don't believe you could switch to the other angles even if you wanted to (I think they're still greyed out in the display menu).

But regardless of it being documented, the AVS guys gave a quick, useful answer.

Page 28 of the owners manual explained how to change angles but did not help me solve this problem. The "Angle" message was just popping up for no reason, I could not get rid of it and I could not change angle. I will now set the on-screen messages to off.
