SONY S300 3.2 firmware upgrade

This utility updates the BDP-S300 firmware to version 3.20, and provides the following benefits:

Improvements over firmware version 2.60:

* Improves BD-Java compatibility to enhance interactivity with some BD-ROMs.
* Compatibility with the newly released BD-R/RE format (BDMV).

Additional improvements over original firmware:

* Improves BD-Java compatibility to enhance interactivity with some BD-ROMs.
As usual you could either download the update or order a disc with it.

Did this need a separate thread? Couldn't this have gone in the Blu-ray discussion thread, or an "Official Blu-ray Firmware Update thread"?

I guess they won't be adding TrueHD decoding to this HIGHLY disappointing player.

I'm not thread crapping; I'm merely stating my disappointment in Sony's lackluster support of this player, which I own. It does the job, but it could/should have been much better.

Well, maybe some people don't scour those threads looking for an update for their specific player. You sure do have some sour grapes when it comes to discussing positive Blu-Ray news. I know that you are a dual supporter but you sure act like you're being paid by the HD-Dvd camp.

So shall we start a new thread every time the A1, XA1, A2, A20, XA2, A3, A30, A35, Xbox 360 etc. gets a firmware update?

Thats why there is a single thread devoted to all HD DVD firmware updates. I suggested above doing the same thing or putting it in the General Blu-ray discussion thread.

He actually owns the player, so I think he can probably say whatever he wants about it. only positive comments are allowed in this forum?

Guys, calm down. Yes, this should have been posted in the firmware thread, but looking back, there have been a few HD DVD individual firmware threads as well. And if someone who owns the player is critical of it, that is their right.

That was certainly not a threadcrap. There has long been speculation about whether the BDP-S300 would be updated to decode DD+ and TrueHD the way the BDP-S1 was (the two players are nearly identical internally). Unfortunately, it appears that Sony is not planning to do that, most likely because they want to reserve those features for the more expensive model.

This is very relevant to any discussion of the player, especially a thread about new updates for the player.
