It was rumored that WB would also be releasing Constantine on 5/20, along with V for Vendetta. It appears Columbia House has a BD pre-order listing for Constantine for 5/20. I guess we'll be getting an announcement shortly.

It would be nice if Warner could give us Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet like they said they were going to do last year. Heston had a nice little part in that.

Ben Hur will have its 50th anniversary next year. Expect the blu-ray. I don't think the studios can just prep stuff for release in only a few months like they can with DVDs.

probably already mentioned, but Twister is up for pre-order on HD DVD on May 27th. what's up with waiting so long on that one? it will probably be the absolutely last one produced. which makes me sad :(

Isn't it just getting the 3-week delay other HD DVD titles got the last few months?

Warner Brothers will release The Perfect Storm BD on July 22nd.

"Video will be presented in 2.40:1 1080p VC-1 accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio track. Extras will mirror the HD DVD release with three commentaries, three featurettes, a stills gallery, and theatrical trailer."

I assume this will be the same transfer with aliasing issues.

Yep, that's the standard HD DVD delay since they announced exclusivity back in January.

I would expect a title like that might have new features and a 4K film to video transfer is a long process for Warner's to undertake.

From what I have read Warner is not doing any new transfers for movies that were "good enough". This one might be included, but I think the major ones were Batman and V for Vendetta. Most likely they will just slap on a TrueHD track and call it a day. An insider mentioned that Warner doenst see the "benifit" of redoing the transfers for minimal gains.......

Then why should folks lay down high BD prices for minimal gains?

This might interest a few of you...

Dimension Extreme (owned by Weinstein) announces they will release a 40th Anniversary BD edition of the 1968 original Night of the Living Dead later this year.

The dvd will be released on May 20.

I hope they do the Blu-ray right, might hang onto my Millenium edition until it gets closer, though.

Well, it's too bad they consider the titles with aliasing to be good enough. This isn't something where they might get a small benefit out of doing a new encode; the titles with aliasing have the issue in the master. At least they're not releasing any more new-to-HDM titles with it, though some BD ports are probably still on the way, such as Caddyshack and Willy Wonka.

I think if they ever do decide to remaster this (or any other title with aliasing), they'll release a DVD special edition with additional extras at the same time, like they did with the Kubrick titles, Blade Runner, etc., to help recoup some of the considerable cost.
