Xbox 360 Hd-Dvd VGA & Sony HDTV
At 1080p through VGA... cannot set it to that resolution :-( I can go a couple down but it is no longer full screen and I can't stretch it out. Anyone have the same problems trying to get 1080p through VGA on a sony Hdtv??? I also have to pro 360, so no hdmi :-(
|
Yep. I've got 2 Sony SXRD TVs, one with 1080p. Both of their VGA inputs only accept a maximum resolution of 720 (?). I don't believe there's a way to stretch the picture, but even still, it's not worth hooking it up to 1080p anyway. It really, really sucks but I love these TVs enough to overlook that. I don't know if it's every Sony HDTV or what, but it is a terrible issue with some.

Yeah... So do you watch the hd-dvds at 1080i?? I was thinking about just keeping my 360 at 720p...
|
I have a Sony HDTV that only goes up to 1080i. What do you mean by stretching the picture?
|
The VGA should let you go up to 1080p with the 360... but it will not let you :-( you can stretch the image in other input modes via component or hdmi

But for the 1080p TV, I actually upgraded my 360 to an elite so I could use the 1080p through HDMI. I only paid 30-40 bucks to upgrade, but even still, the 360s manufactured after July are being shipped with HDMI outputs anyway. If it makes you feel any better (and I know it probably won't), I can't honestly notice the difference between both my HD-DVD player and the PS3 displayed at their highest settings on the 1080i TV vs. the 1080p TV. |
Where did you do that upgrade for that much? I'd be willing to do that.. lol

I should have said it's not a regular deal and I did have to use a bunch of credit, but I thought it was worth the upgrade instead of a couple new games. |
well dang.. I woulda done that and got rid of my 2007 games.. lol

I have the same TV, the 60 inch sxrd and had the same problem. I used to run the hd-dvd thru components. I then upgraded to the Elite when it came out to use the 1080p/hdmi and the upscaling since the ps3 didnt do it back then. Now I feel like I paid a bunch of $ for a black 360 since they come with HDMI now, the PS3 upscales now and I can't see a difference between the 1080i/p since the TV handles the scaling so well. Yea, I got a bigger hard drive, but I dont think I ever used up half of the original 20 giger.
Actually with 360s having HDMI what is the point of the elite? |
I have got to find a way to get the 360 to 1080p before transformers hits.I might just put the hd drive on ebay even though I just bought it and invest in a standalone
|
I think your best bet would to be to get an Elite or new 360. Maybe if you "break it", Ms will send you one with HDMI as a replacement ;)
From what it sounds like, Sony's VGA port only goes up to 720p (no 1080p at least). However, as maybe have said, you will not notice a difference really between 1080i/1080p. Why not just use components? I have a Ps3 hooked up via HDMI and 360 hooked up via Component to my Sony 60A2020 and I don't really notice any difference between my Blu-Ray and HD-DVD movies. |
ok, I just wanted the best possible resolution and quality out of my tv and 360... But I'll switch back to component which what was originally on the 360. No biggie... I just know that when I watch Dish on 1080i I see blurriness out of really fast action stuff.. and was fearing the same for hd-dvd... ya know?
