Yes, the last set of international releases used the USA hidef master. Same happened in Australia - the original release didnt have smoke the Special Edition re-release (mirroring the USA release) did.

picture quality aside, is Red Cliff actually a good movie. Sucks that Hollywood really shafted John Woo (IMO), hope it's a return to form for him.

From the BFI thread at Criterion Forum:
Very interesting new "BFI Aniversary Supplement" with the new edition of RRP Magazine (trade mag).....Confirmation of LONELINESS OF THE LONG DISTANCE RUNNER on Blu-ray in 2008. Confirmation of special editions of the Tati collection on Blu-ray. Sounds like they're all being remastered for DVD "reissue" and Blu-ray. Titles mentioned: JOUR DE FETE, LES VACANCES DE M. HULOT, MON ONCLE, PLAYTIME, and.... PARADE! (possibly one of the first video > film > Blu-rays?)

"2009 will see at least 12 more Blu-ray titles" (this includes the Tati, and a number of "fresh surprises")

Confirmation of SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING on Blu-ray....

With many of the BFI films region B locked, how difficult is it to purchase a UK PS3 for my setup? I understand there is a difference in voltage but would an adapter work? I sure as heck wouldn't want to fry my Lumagen or any other expensive component!

I assume you are in the US? If so, you will not be able to directly purchase one through Amazon.UK as they do not ship electronic goods overseas. So, you will have to have it shipped to someone in the UK who will have to reship it to you in the US.

I do live in the US and was not aware of that fact...but it makes sense. Thank you for the quick reply! If I do get my hands on one, is it easy to adapt? I see all types of power adapters but I may consult an electrician before tampering with my setup.

It is fairly easy (you don't need an adapter, the PS3 does everything on its own, all you have to do is set the output to 1080p). Feel free to PM-me and I would love to assist you when you get one.

On title per title basis.

The disc won't be English-friendly.

Days of Being Wild came out on Blu last week; has anyone seen a review yet? I'd order a copy in a heartbeat, only that the film has never really had a particularly good transfer on DVD, so I'm wary of how this may look. If it's as good as the Fallen Angels and Chungking restorations, though...

I love this movie. Like "Fallen Angels", it only keeps growing in my estimation with every viewing. I'm hopeful that we have a better transfer here, though the UK-R2/PAL "Wong Kar Wai Boxset" version (with "Tears" and "2046") is certainly a very viewable disc.

If any finds a review anywhere, please post it!

French distributor GCTHV put english subs on asian film releases Running Wild and Vampire Cop Ricky,
we can expect they'll do it again on My Wife is a Gangster 3 that will be released on December 4.

Johnnie To's Sparrow will be released on September 25.

I bit the bullet yesterday and ordered a copy from DVDAsian (cheaper than YesAsia and I'll have it faster), so I'll be sure to let you know how it turns out.

I'm very interest also! Can't wait to hear the verdict becasue this must become part of my collection. Thanks for pointing out the release because it passed me by, and I'm constantly scouring for foreign region A releases.

Alto Media (the Korean company that put out the HD-remastered Chungking Express and Fallen Angels DVDs) also released this last year, which might give us a clue as to what the BD will look like. There are some screenshots here -- basically, it looks like the Tartan version, to the extent that I assume Tartan also used the same master. (I'm actually more worried about the English subtitles, which were awful on the Megastar DVDs.)

Stephen Chow A Chinese Odyssey Blu Ray Collection is available.

Does anyone know if the horrible English subtitles from the previous DVDs were fixed on this Blu Ray?

DVD Beaver on Days of Being Wild.

And just a warning: the HK Red Cliff Blu-ray has an occasional watermark that pops up in the corner of the image, just like Mei Ah's other BDs.

http://www.releaselists.com/BLURAYInternational.html

Already released:

I see many there that are mentioned here and many that arent. Thought people would like to know.
