1-3 are region free. 4 should be region free as Metronome haven't region coded any of their discs as far as I'm aware.

redbill 05-12-08 11:12 AM

(1) plays in my North American PS3 - not sure if that's because its region free, or if because the disc is from a Region A country.

Arpeggi 05-12-08 08:12 PM

Just wanted to confirm that Paranoid Park (UK) is region free from Tartan.

Thanks for the info guys. For sure I'll be picking up the Infernal Affairs Blu-ray trilogy then. Hopefully we get some concrete information about whether I'm a Cyborg is region-coded or not as we get closer to release date.

I spoke to Tony at Xploited and it sounds like he's expecting Infernal Affairs 2 in next week with the trilogy box following shortly after. Not sure if there will be a price difference between the three separate releases and the box.

dkny75 05-13-08 11:19 AM

I just pre-ordered the Infernal Affairs Box Set from DDDHouse. They have it for a 5/20 release. I also received the Assembly from Blahdvd. I'll probably take a look at it sometime this week. It's too bad the the extras are in PAL format.

Yavin 05-13-08 12:05 PM

Nice. I didn't even know there was going to be a trilogy Blu-ray boxset for Infernal Affairs. It would save me about $18 US/CAD over buying the individual Blu-rays.

Giles 05-13-08 12:28 PM

all three movies plus shipping comes out to a little under 70 bucks from DDDHouse - it really is the way to purchase the films - all of them. Put in my preorder.

I am thinking of getting some of the hong kong blu-rays like CJ7, Ronin, Trainspotting -- are these easy to navigate through the menus / turn off subtitles? Is the PQ high quality 1080P?

dkny75 05-16-08 12:39 PM

I have CJ7 but haven't watched it yet. I'll try and give it a spin this weekend and let you know.

Cosmic Bus 05-19-08 11:04 PM

DVD Times is reporting (and in their words, "confirming") today that the upcoming ITV Blu-ray releases of Black Narcissus, Bugsy Malone, Great Expectations, Strictly Ballroom, Boys From Brazil and Escape to Athena are not region coded. Hoo-f'n-ray!!

Wow, it's about time somebody confirmed this. I don't understand why ITV couldn't just announce this up front.

Anyway, good news. Thanks for the info and the link. :)

CJ7 is a Hk release and should very English-friendly like other HK releases.

Ronin and Trainspotting are Japan releases, I know that the movie starts immediately for Ronin and I only need to use the audio button to switch to the desired language. And there are no extras.

Tutut 05-21-08 09:11 AM

Copper Blue 05-23-08 10:14 AM

Has anyone in the US ordered from Blahdvd.com before for UK Blu-Rays? Their prices are equal or cheaper than Amazon UK or Xploited, and the shipping to the US is dirt cheap ($2). I can get Boys From Brazil for $29 USD shipped, Beowulf or Sweeney for $35, Lucky # Slevin for $24...

bunkaroo 05-23-08 11:25 AM

I wonder what overseas shipment method they use for $2. Hopefully not something that travels on water. :)

dkny75 05-23-08 11:38 AM

I ordered Almost Famous from Blahdvd without any issues. Their shipping is a little slow but nothing wrong with the company itself.

samper 05-23-08 01:28 PM

To CopperBlue - I always use Blahdvd - No issues for me.

Dan 05-23-08 01:38 PM

I'm VERY tempted to buy that Infernal Affairs set. About $72 CAD after shipping. hmmmmmmm...

vcuram 05-23-08 02:11 PM

Does anyone know if Great Expectations, Black Narcissus, or Boys From Brazil will be region coded? I'd like to get all three.

PopcornTreeCt 05-23-08 07:27 PM

They should be region free releases.

Am I mistaken, or is there a history of censorship on Korean DVDs - that is, should we expect this to be the uncut version of "Lust, Caution"?

crey014 06-02-08 08:33 PM

Hey any of guys own any of the Tartan releases? Are they any good? I'm thinking of getting Black Book. Thoughts?

Cosmic Bus 06-02-08 08:42 PM

I received an e-mail from Amazon UK this afternoon saying that the Black Narcissus Blu-ray had been delayed, although the website still shows a June 23rd date. Anyone have details?
