from DavisDVD:

Specs/dates:

Starz Home Entertainment (previously Anchor Bay) has entered the high-def arena with exclusive support for the Blu-ray Disc format. The company's first titles out of the gate will be stalwart catalog titles Evil Dead II, John Carpenter's Halloween and George A. Romero's zombie flicks Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead, all due in stores on October 2nd.

The second wave of titles follows on October 16th and includes the first two volumes of Showtime's Masters of Horror anthology series, each featuring three tales from the first season. Volumes 3 & 4 follow on November 13th and December 11th, respectively. Also look for Beowulf & Grendel, starring 300's Gerard Butler, due on November 6th.

Although final specs are still pending, you can expect 1080p transfers, uncompressed PCM 5.1 audio and identical supplements ported over from the standard definition DVD releases. Retail pricing is set at $29.97 per disc.

Yeah but did they ever end up getting a transfer right in the first place?

Can't wait for some of those Anchor Bay titles. That Dawn of the Dead cover is from the 1-disc DiviMax edition. I'm wondering if it will mirror that release. Regardless, the 4-disc U.E. will remain in my collection. Also, I hope they correct the color issues that were found on the divimax dvd release of Halloween. Somehow, I'm thinking they won't for this first release. I think we got about 5-6 versions of Halloween on dvd. I'm sure we'll get that many from Anchor Bay on BD.

QuePaso: Thank you for providing the covers-snap.

I truly hope that somehow AB manage to release Zulawski's Possession!

One of the key marketing points for the Divimax line is that the discs were mastered from high definition transfers, so I'd expect that it would.

The existing Evil Dead II transfer is pretty bad (and frankly, I don't see how it could be improved), but Dawn and Day should look great. Hopefully, the colors on Halloween are fixed. I will very likely buy all 4 anyway. Can't wait!

I'd have to agree with that, so I don't think I'll be getting rid of the box set any time soon. Still, I can't wait to see the Romero films in HD.

What a slam dunk for Blu, thanks Anchor Bay! Day of the Dead is pretty brutal, but I can't wait for Evil Dead II, Halloween and Dawn of the Dead!

Anchor Bay's website has posted the sites for their October's BD releases. No specs yet, but it's now officially confirmed.

If the Dawn of the Dead release can contain ALL three cuts of the film (they were all remastered in high definition) AND the extras, I'm making the move to BD. However, the SRP is $30, so I'm assuming no...

I would say the same for Halloween, but I think the television cut was only mastered in SD (as the theatrical cut wasn't remastered in HD until the Divimax DVD).

Those are some fine releases for October.

I don't know if I'm ready to double/triple dip on a couple of those titles.
