I have Casino Royale (Blu-Ray) in my hands right now!

Managed to get it 6 days early! Woohoo! I'll give a personal review of it tonight when I watch it. Here's a pic from my phones camera:

The #1 reason I bought one in December.:)

Casino Royale will be the only movie I plan on double dipping from my DVD collection to Blu-Ray after I purchase a Blu-Ray player later this year.

darkside 03-08-07 10:06 PM

This movie was a big reason I bought a PS3. Let us know how it looks and sounds.

Supermallet 03-08-07 10:08 PM

This movie was the reason I bought a PS3. The rest of these Blu-rays are just icing on the cake.

cultshock 03-08-07 10:26 PM

Yep, this is the one I've been waiting for. :D

thecrackedjack2 03-08-07 10:46 PM

Watched about half of it so far. The quality is very high with this one. I wouldn't say it quite as good as KOH in the PQ department, but its about as close to perfection as it gets. The opening credits are particularly vibrant and jump off off the screen. Oh, and definitely turn down the sound a little, because this is one of the loudest discs I've ever heard. It will blow you away.

I'm hoping we see the rest of the Bonds soon.

Supermallet 03-08-07 11:04 PM

Me too, with all of the extras from the Ultimate Editions.

If you got a PS3, you can download the HD trailer for Casino Royale off the store. Looks spectacular.

Mine just shipped from DVDEmpire along with Layer Cake & The Holiday. Looking forward to this big time as it's the first new Bond film I've enjoyed since Goldeneye.

I'd like to chime in and state that I too bought a PS3 this week because of this movie. Wanted to make sure I could get one before this flick is unleashed in the Blu-ray realm...

Is the PS3 that hard to find where you live? I still see them piled in Best Buy and overflowing all the cases at Target (right below the Wii case which is pretty damn funny). This movie is a renter at best for me.

darkside 03-10-07 09:18 PM

60GB PS3s are everywhere. I'm beginning to think they stopped making the 20GB ones.

Anubis2005X 03-10-07 10:07 PM

The last couple of times I was at Best Buy I didn't see any on shelves. The time I went there were three, so I just picked one up. A few days later I saw six on the shelf. There's plenty to go around it seems, but I'm glad I got it to get it set up and such...

EDIT: Yeah, I'm thinking Sony is basically discontinuing the 20 GB version. Fine with me, I need the wireless capability of the 60 GB...

Drexl 03-11-07 03:31 AM

This is not the killer app for me that it was for others (I was honestly anticipating The Departed more than this), but I have my order in and I'm still looking forward to it.

OT, I think Sony would be making a mistake by discontinuing the 20GB PS3. As time goes on, that high price is going to be more and more of a deterrent to the casual buyer (who doesn't care about HD movie discs or media centers), and they're going to need a more affordable option to stay competitive.

darkside 03-11-07 10:48 AM

Someone found the 20GB listed for sale online so I guess it still exists. They definitely are trying to push the 60GB though since they lose less money on those.

Gizmo 03-11-07 02:01 PM

I have only seen a 20GB ONCE...Since then its only been 60GB. Of course the Sony' fans will continue with "Blu-Rayis only $500 not $600".

maingon 03-11-07 03:22 PM

wow amazed people would buy a ps3 or this movie, I thought it was a pretty overrated flick.
