I couldn't wait for Little Miss Sunshine anymore so I just picked it up at Best Buy this week for $15. I probably won't bother DD'ing on this or Warner's late releases of A Scanner Darkly & The Wicker Man. This non-day and date crap is annoying.

If you were going to get both, which I did, it adds another incentive. I think these are the only titles that have any such deal.
thanks for this. I ended up getting both for 33.00 shipped.

That's a toughie right there. I do want to see The Sentinel. But I've heard The Marine is dreadful.

Depends. If you like cheesy 80's style action movies you will like it. It almost tries too hard to be an 80's Rambo movie. I personally don't think it is something anyone would watch more than once. I usually rent stuff like this.

I ordered three titles which came out to $51. Might order more if the offer is still valid in 2-3 weeks.

This 50% deal is a GREAT DEAL any way you cut it. Sorta like the 5 free HD DVDs with the purchase of Toshiba players. Some of you feel the need to come in here and criticize. That is neither appreciated here nor welcome here.

Just a heads up that I haven't seen mentioned: check your Amazon Gold Box every day for another 2% off on some of these... today in mine, I see Fifth Element + Tears Of The Sun for $13.77.

My Fox order will be arriving today via UPS. I believe this deal runs through 3/27, according to some AVSers.

I got my order overnight because I live close to the KY warehouse so my Prime 2 day shipping takes about 12 hours to get here. The Marine is horrible in a very good way. If you like the 80s and 90s action flicks starting with Stallone and Schwarzenegger and then moved on to Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal and Snipes then this fills the void the recent action films have left. Everything possible explodes, there is some real cheesy moments in the dialog, and the fight scenes are way over the top - I mean they make wrestling look real and unscripted. It is everything a lot of the oh so serious people around here hate in a movie. The disc has a good amount of cheesy extras and the transfer was pretty good overall though it did not blow me away and there were definately a couple scenes I thought were not up to par. As the DVDTalk review did, I would not hesitate to get this if you are a fan of this kind of movie and you folks know who you are. The only complaint I have is Cena played it a little too serious, if he had played it like the rest of the cast did it might have been even better.

Does the unrated cut add a lot of gore and/or nudity? I love Commando, and a big reason is that it's so over-the-top violent. Ahnuld escaping that gardening shack and his method of killing Bennett are classic.

Has anyone heard any rumors about this being done on the HD DVD side?

I don't think any of the sale movies were from Warner or Paramount so I don't see this happening with HD DVD.

No nudity, kind of surprised me they did not throw some in. As for violence and gore, not sure if more was added as I have never seen the theatrical cut. IMDB does not give a breakdown of the differences yet.

Yeah, the best I would hope for is 50% off retail on Universal combo discs, bringing them down to $17.50 and $20 a piece... I don't see $20 titles dropping (although $15 a piece would be nice), and Universal and Weinstein are mostly priced around that point, so any big sale seems unlikely and any small sale would be seen as a pale imitation of Blu-Ray, so it's a bit of a lose-lose situation.

Most people seem to be picking up Fox titles. Maybe they will get the message that people want to buy their titles, but only when they are priced similiar to Warner.

Thanks for the heads up. I had Black Hawk Down in my Goldbox for $13.77 ($12.40 after the extra discount) and ordered it along with my preorder for March of the Penguins.

I too had Black Hawk Down in my gold box ($12.32 after extra discount), and I couldn't resist at that price.

Black Hawk Down's PCM track is an assault on the ears. I haven't heard a better soundtrack yet.
