PS3 Fan Noise
Recently bought a PS3 60G and it's been great except one thing concerning the fan noise:
When playing any blu-ray movie, for the first 30 minutes or so the fan is quiet. After 30 minutes the fan gets louder and louder and at the hour mark it's so loud I can hear the fan over the quiet scenes. I have the PS3 horizontal with plenty of air circulation.
Is anyone else having this issue of the fan getting louder? Any solutions?

Mine is loud, but I consider most stuff loud. I hear strange things from electronics most don't seem to notice though. I will say the A1 is just as noisey as the PS3 but neither come close to a LD player IMHO.

I'm the same as everyone else. My 360 sounds like a turbine engine and my PS3 can't be heard even in a dead silent room.

Yup, I'm also in agreement with most. The PS3 is my quietest component by far, with the 360 being pretty loud, but the fan is easily overwhelmed if there's any kind of sound going on. It's just somewhat annoying during quiet scenes or low dialog.

The only time I hear mine is right after I turn it off. Fan picks up for about 5-10 secs.
Other than that I NEVER hear it and it's on a shelf 2 feet from my head.

It must depend on the unit. My PS3 isn't loud by any means, but I can certainly hear the fan if I'm close to it. But if I'm sitting in my normal position of about 10 feet away and playing a movie, I really don't hear it at all (and I have good ears), unless I'm intentionally trying to listen for it during dead quiet scenes.

Mine gets warm, not hot, on that side after it's been on for awhile. Not sure if that's normal or not. According to the manual, if the internal temp reaches a certain above normal level, the green and red lights on the front will flash alternately and if it gets too hot, the machine will shut itself off. I'm assuming that as long as that isn't happening to my system, it's ok?

I use the 360 Add-on HD-DVD player for HD-DVDs, and it can be a little annoying with the sound from the 360's fan, as it's quite loud.
I just bought a PS3, but I haven't opened it yet (still deciding on whether it was a good purchase at the moment,) so I've yet to watch any Blu-ray discs.
