Well, you could always buy the 20gig, and then with the $100 you saved, buy a wireless adapter, and a HD larger than 60 gigs!!

OP, as others have said, the PS3 can be found just about anywhere. I find it hard to believe you are not able to find one. Especially in L.A. I see them in every Best Buy, Fry's, Costco, Wal-Mart, etc... I go into. Not just a few, but TONS.

They are not everywhere... In NYC you still cant really find them (besides craigslist and what not). Now when I was in FL last week they were everywhere, and I almost picked one up but still cant seem to buy another video game machine (already have a 360 and a Wii) eventhough it will be just a BD player.

A wireless bridge usually goes for $70-80, doesn't it? The USB type will not work because it needs drivers.

Okay Okay, you've all talked me into it!

A 20 gigger will be fine.

(...just no one tell the little woman...)

SUCK SAKE! TOO LATE! &

She was looking over my shoulder and said, "NO WAY! It's a 60, or the highway!"

Seein' I've grown accustomed to shelter, it's gonna have to be a 60.

OH, COME ON!

Well, I must be BLIND, because I haven't found ONE!

they are easily found around the valley, try any Bestbuy, wal-marts or ebgames, gamecrazy or whatever and those gamestops or whatever they are called in the malls. I for one still can't find a Wii, however gimmicky it may be

THEEK, if you want one, I can hold one for you at my store. It's the EB Games at the Howard Hughes Promenade. Let me know.

The 60gig is readily available, but I haven't seen a 20gig version in quite a while. I wonder how much longer Sony will even produce these?

To make you buy the more expensive model perhaps? I think they lose more money on each 20gig sold.

Ask an employee. Some stores don't put them out on the floor, but if you ask they'll get you one from the back.

Sony only produced a 20gb model so that they could boast their game/Blu-ray system only costs $499. However, they lose literally hundreds of dollars on every console sold, more so on the cheaper model than the $599 version. So they basically only released a couple dozen of the 20gb units in North America just to be able to say that they did it, but about 800 gazillion of the more expensive 60gb units.

Wow, I can't think of anyplace in East TN that sells them and does not have them in stock. I mean I saw a sign at a PETRO truck stop saying they had them in stock the other day when I got fuel.

I'd think the main advantage of the bigger hard drive is for downloaded game demos videos, MP3's etc. Looking at my 360 saves, they only range from 100k to maybe 5MB, so that's a lot of saves to fill up an HD if the PS3 system is the same. Just keep in mind that the hard drive can easily be swapped for a bigger one at any time, so future space limitation shouldn't be a major concern.

I defintiely agree with going with the 60 Gb version.

But to pile on, literally every store that I think would sell PS3 have the 60Gb version in stock both here in Santa Fe, NM as well as Albuquerque, NM. Even my little town of Espanola, NM WalMart has at least 12 in stock. I haven't seen many of the 20 Gb, but the 60 Gb is no problem.

As far as buying locally, if there are issues, you are going to (generally) have to return it to Sony anyway, particularly after 30 days (Best Buy's return period).

They only ever planned on making something like 10-20% of all models be the 20GB. Finding them ought to be tougher.

Aren't they going to have to make more 20GB units as time goes on if they want to sell to joe public, after the die-hard PS fans and BD early adopters get theirs? Plenty of people have a problem with paying $500 for a console, let alone $600.

It may be that some just get the 60GB version without evaluating whether they really need it because it's the "deluxe" version, but it's not like the Xbox 360 where the Premium version was a no-brainer because of the hard drive. Those who don't need wi-fi (heck, some won't even connect it to a network at all) and won't be using it for media will do fine with the 20GB.

If you're willing to spend a little more than the base price, you can order a package deal from Walmart.com. That's how I purchased my PS3...since no major retail chains are located in my area.

THEEK,

I saw a few at the Torrance Target in Sepulveda yesterday morning, along with a Wii.
