To the HD Reviewers

I know there isn't a very good way of doing so yet, but would it be possible to start putting screen shots in the reviews? I'd love to see a comparison freeze-frame shot, especially of Rocky.

For one thing, they would be very large, especially with companion upscaled shots from the DVD. It would be a lot of space to take up on the server relative to a regular review.

Also, most people don't have the means to do it. A fast computer is required, along with the proper drive and software player.

The best we could probably hope for, if reviewers have the equipment and are willing to do it, would be comparisons of small sections of the images. DVD Beaver has this in their Casablanca review.

After resizing and compressing to jpeg, screen shots are basically useless for video comparisons unless there's a significant difference in something simple like the color or the framing. Things like detail, you'll never be able to adequately capture in a jpeg screen cap.

Besides, which of us have built in HD or BD drives with which to take screenshots? Unless you're talking about taking photos of the TV, which seems equally useless.

One option is to use a small segment of a frame instead of the whole enchilada.

Hardly worth the effort unless there's a specific artifact that needs pointing out.
