Warner Archive can’t release it, as far as I know. Yes, Kino is putting out some kind of DVD.

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

I would like - in no order:

Shining Through
A Simple Plan
Foul Play
The Good German
Narrow Margin (Gene Hackman)
V - at least both mini series, but a complete set with the series that followed would be nice)
The Spanish Prisoner
The Parallax View
The Wonder Boys
Everyone Says I Love You
Match Point
Smoke/Blue in the Face
Double Jeopardy

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

I have a list of about 150 or more "wanted on disc" films, but I hold out little hope of most of them ever seeing a release. Hundreds, if not thousands, of worthwhile films will never get a sniff at a release, and it's a travesty. I feel like starting my own label, but with rights costs and tracking down good prints of obscurities, it seems to me like a costly fool's errand.

Don't know about the first 2, but I think Paramount has an issue with releasing SFMGB because it's controversial in today's PC climate. Last time it was released was on VHS. Same reason WB hasn't released The Devils, though I'm surprised Criterion never released either film since they have a relationship with both studios.

It's only a guess from me. Nothing official.

The holdup for Looking for Mr. Goodbar is reportedly music clearances.

I could see Warner Archive releasing Quick Change one day. The biggest headache is just that they only release a few titles a month from an enormous library, so it’s anyone’s guess if/when that’d happen.

The Ref is under the Disney umbrella, and they’ve basically stopped releasing catalog titles themselves. They might license it out to another label, though.

The first two I was waiting forever for a Blu-ray release, and finally I caved and eventually bought digital copies of both

Amen to that.
It's odd, because it's a genuine cult classic.

Another movie that should be on BD:

What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
Come on, Leo (who was nominated for an Oscar) and Depp at the beginning of their careers?
No BD...WTF?
Get it done!

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

I’d like to see the 1994 Lassie movie released on Blu-ray. I was always a fan of the various incarnations of Lassie (books and the old movies and shows) in general as a kid, and remember thinking the 1994 film was a pretty good family film.

Still waiting for Midnight Madness, Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid, True Lies, the Abyss, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore and Light Of Day. Hell, I’d take a dvd of that last one.
