I really hope they are going to release more than that in the US.

June, September and November look like good months. Not sure if I will do the Matrix trilogy or not.

Very nice lineup! If all of those(aside from The Prestige and The Island obviously) get released here around the same time, this will be a great year for HD-DVD.

They have mentioned more titles for 2007 like Alexander Revisited and Dog Day Afternoon.

If the US gets the same releases I will be in for these. The HP films are ones I could honestly pass on, but I'll leave them on my list for now.

September
300 (IME) (HD DVD only) (if the movie turns out good)

November
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (IME) (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire(IME) (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (IME) (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (IME) (HD DVD only)

December
2001 A Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orange
The Shinning
The Wizard of Oz

I hope this is just a small part of Warner's release schedule because this is an extremely mediocre selection. Other than Decemeber there are no great classic films. Looks like I will be buying mostly standard DVDs in 2007.

What's the deal with The Island and Prestige? Are there other WB-controlled movies that might be released overseas but are BD-only here?

The fact that they would stagger the Matrix releases instead of putting out a trilogy box set right off the bat has me scratching my head...they better not pull this shit in North America.

I suspect The Fountain will be. I think that was a Fox/Warner production.

You'd have to check to see which movies were released by WB overseas, but by Fox, Disney, or Sony over here. I remember when The Prestige came out how Buena Vista distributed it in the states, but WB controlled it overseas, so I figured it would see a HD-DVD release in Europe.

I only want the first one, so I'm glad they're doing that.

This is obviously a partial list, perhaps just highlighting their tentpole releases (or some of them). But personally, I think this is an exciting list and I'd buy at least seventeen off of it (eighteen if Zodiac is any good, nineteen if they also release Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix alongside the first four this November). I'm still perturbed by the current lack of announcements, but hopefully, these films and more will make up for it.

I wasn't too excited about the reported Universal Pictures announcement from HTF, but this is more like it!

I hope some of these are released in the US too. Perhaps the titles that are day and date?? We'll have to wait and see. Otherwise, this is going to be one expensive investment coming from across the pond:

The Island
Flags of Our Fathers
Matrix (IME) (HD DVD only)
Matrix Reloaded (IME) (HD DVD only)
The Goonies
Matrix Revolutions (IME) (HD DVD only)
Letters from Iwo Jima
L.A. Confidential
Blade Runner
Poltergeist
300 (IME) (HD DVD only)
Blood Diamond (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (IME) (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire(IME) (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (IME) (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (IME) (HD DVD only)
Ocean's eleven (2001)
Ocean's twelve
The Shining
The Wizard of Oz

For others, sure.

Not for me.

Of that list, I'd pick up:

Goonies
LA Conf
Blade Runner
Oceans 11 (2001)
Oz

That's it. Zodiac too, if David doesn't let me down. Other than that, no interest in the others.

You do realize that the Dirty Harry series is not a western, right? Care to point out where you see those "Eastwood Westerns" listed?

IMHO, its a decent list, but nothing to get too excited about. It is all stuff most of us expected to be out by the end of 2007.

True, but again, this seems to be just a list of tentpole titles, not a complete list. Plus, those are some good titles and it's nice to see minor details on some of them (IMEs on all the Harry Potters is especially exciting, but I do have to wonder what further information the IMEs for The Matrix films would have...those movies have been so well documented already).

No Matrix? Not even the first one? And where's the Kubrick love?
