Lots of nice titles there, but Midnight Run is the cream of the crop to me!

This would be the (awful) remake with Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger.

I just really hope Universal finally figured out how to do TrueHD without the skipping... still won't stop me from buying the ones I want.

Wow! Lots of great title announcements. I'm in for at least eight of them, not counting the ones from April that we already knew about.

The Big Lebowski

Out of all of those titles listed, I'm only down for purchasing:

Mallrats
Being John Malkovich
The Last Starfighter (depending on how good the transfer is)
Battlestar Galactica: Season 1 (No. Brainer.)

Meh. Think that will decide a format war?

I'm not sitting through that snoozefest again either. Good movie, way too long and plodding though.

Good Shepard was NOT good. EVERYONE in that movie was wasted. I almost fell asleep. The only people that I know that liked it are on the net.

Good thing Universal has so many great movies and TV shows (IMO, much better stuff than Sony/Columbia) because without them, HD-dvd would be DOA.

Yes, because we all know that Kim Basinger nude is just so awful. Just not worth purchasing, not even in HD.

No Sir

Actually there were a few above me who didn't list it either ...

I buy mostly for rewatchability factor. If I can't imagine watching the movie at least 5x in the next 3 years, then I won't buy it.

Oh I know, just making a point...

I try to use a similar criteria for the most part, but there are a few I have bought just because I thought they were so good but may not pull out too watch as often (Schindler's List for example).

Yeah, I sometimes do that. Not often, but every now and then. Schindler's List is a good example. When I bought Saving Private Ryan (on DVD), I bought it thinking exactly that. I didn't think I'd be watching it often because it was just so gory, but I still wanted to buy it just to have it. Then over the years, I found myself watching it many, many times.

Yes, I'm being a bit picky, but NOT because of the current format war. I'm not holding back HD DVD purchases from fear that BD will "win" and I'll be stuck with unplayable discs. I've set from the getgo that, as much as I want one format to win, both formats will survive (thrive?) in the years to come. So I can't imagine a time when I won't be able to play my HD DVDs; I don't accept that as a probable scenario. I'm very excited at the list of Universal HD DVDs, even if some of you aren't exactly thrilled at my selection of movies that I am eagerly waiting for.

don't forget 'Casper' the DTS laserdisc which has an amazing 360 soundscape.

next to Dante's Peak, Long Kiss Goodnight and Lost in Space DTS laserdiscs are the loudest discs I own.

How many great titles were released during the first year of dvd? 3, 4, 8?

Plenty of great stuff already available on both HD formats.
