Question about new HDTV
Hey Guys, I had a question about the picture on my new HDTV. I recently bought a Samsung ln-s3241d television and intially hooked it up using component cables to my digital cable box. The HD was amazing and the television automatically zoomed the picture on the Non HD channels to fill the widescreen. I then bought an HDMI/DVI connector and switched the Component to my DVD player and hooked up the cable box with the HDMI cable. Now, all the channels that aren't HD are in 4:3 ratio and the hd channels are widescreen. So basically my question is this:
1. Is there a way to switch back to all the channels filling the screen? I tried switching the cables but to no avail. I also tried zooming in manually according to the instructions but that option was not available, meanining when I went into set up, the option was blacked out. So if I leave it as is, watching regular tv, will it cause a burn in effect or not? Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!! |
It's an LCD, so there shouldn't be any burn-in.

Yeah, only plasma is still affected by burn-in and the newer sets to a much lesser degree than the earlier models.

With the first setup, you were probably in a 16:9 mode, and 4:3 was stretched horizontally. Then you got into an auto mode that showed both in proper fashion.
Note: this may have been in the cable box, not the TV. |
