question about upgrading to an HD-dvd player???

My current TV is the samsung lns-3251d, which displays a native resolution of 720p. I currently have the samsung hd-860 hooked up which upconverts to 720p/1080i. My question is this: will I notice a difference on my television set if I purchase the Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player? Since my tv is not 1080p, does that mean i wont really utilize the benefits of hd-dvd? Also I was thinking about picking up the hd dvd drive for the 360, but it doesnt use hdmi so i dunno if it is still good quality? thanks for the help guys!

Don't worry about 1080p. Most of it's hype. Get the HD-DVD. HD-DVD movies blow away SD. You will never want to watch SD movies again.

Ditto, I just got a 720p set, with the 360 HD-DVD add on, and almost don't even want to watch my old DVD's anymore. Within the first 2 weeks of having the HD-DVD player, I now have 12 HD-DVD's with 6 more on the way. I am that impressed with HD-DVD.

The only problem I've had with the HD-DVD add-on, along with other people, is you might have a disc every now and then that doesn't want to play, or will skip, ect. Most likely a disc issue, but I've seen more people with problems with the add-on instead of the Toshiba's. So far, I've only had one problem, and that was with the Corpse Bride skipping.

The difference between SD, and HD-DVD is night and day. Trust me, I was skeptical too, you wont be dissapointed.

There is a pretty big difference, but I dont think it is something that hits you in the face right out of the box...I would say go with the add-on and see what you think.

for me.. I have noticed the standard dvds looking better when using the 360 HD add on then worse.
