I'm not sure we'll get a US release soon. I thought paidgeek (Sony insider) at AVS said the master was terrible.

I'm all over Immortal Beloved. Kind of a surprising catalog release, but who's complaining? :)

Warner Plans More High-Def Documentary Releases With Warner Home Video's encouraging sales figures for the Planet Earth high-definition release, Warner and BBC Video have indicated that there are plans to release Oscar-winning A Room With a View: Special Edition and the Peabody Award-winning natural-history documentary Galapagos on HD DVD this fall. |
'Room with a View' would look gorgeous in HiDef!
more IMAX from WB would be welcome as well... what ever happened to 'Everest' from Disney/BV?? |
I'm in for Remember the Titans and will blind buy Disturbia and Blades of Glory. I think the last 2 are Paramount titles, so most/if not all the extras should be in HD.
|
I thought Distrubia was solid, so I'll pick that up for sure - very entertaining.

First Multichannel HD DVD Audio Title Debuts with 'Uncommon Bach' In what is being billed as the world's first "3-Dimensional Sound Reality" high-def music experience, Surround Records will debut the audio-only HD DVD release 'Uncommon Bach' on June 15. Created by producer Alexander Goldberg Jero, 'Uncommon Bach' presents the music of the legendary composer using "virtual instruments and modern synthesis," in a newly-remixed version that Surround Records is dubbing "3-Dimensional Sound Reality." According to the company's press materials, the process promises a "clarity and sonic perception of these classical works [that] will open a new vision of the original masterpieces." 'Uncommon Bach' is notable as being the first audio-only high-def release to hit the U.S. Though multichannel audio releases (sans any significant video material) are fairly common on standard-def DVD, they have not yet made any inroads on the HD DVD or Blu-ray formats. Surround Records has set a June 15 release date for the 57-minute 'Uncommon Bach.' Tech specs include DTS-HD Master Lossless Audio and standard DTS 5.1 surround options. (Note also that 'Uncommon Bach' is compatible only with HD DVD players with HDMI or optical outputs.) No further details are available on what, if any video and/or still materials will accompany the audio portion of 'Uncommon Bach.' There also appears to be no additional bonus features or other supplementary material included. Retail price for the HD DVD has been set at $29.95 (you can pre-order it at Amazon.com for 19.95.) Surround Records has not yet announced a Blu-ray version of 'Uncommon Bach,' but we'll keep you posted. |
Looks like Deliverance 35th Anniversary Edition is coming to Blu-ray and HD DVD on 9/18.

Ghost Rider coming out on HD DVD in September in France.
Mr & Mrs Smith, Lord of War and Gangs of New York coming in 2008. http://www.jeremymanesse.com/article-6483561.html Found this over at AVS. Hopefully they won't have forced subs. Why a company would limit a dics selling potential by forcing subs baffles me so I would hope that by now the different companies overseas would realize how retarded that is. |
Anyone got the release date for The Crow on Blu-Ray? Last week Play.com said it was like the 26th June now it says "Due for release..."

For example, if Studio A distributes an English-language movie in France, they'll use forced French subs to prevent it from selling in England, where Studio B agrees to use forced English subs on their French movies to prevent crossover sale to France. |
HiDef Digest is stating that 'Remember the Titans' is the longer director's cut of the film.

While Paramount has not released any disc information for these titles, we can tell you 'Disturbia' will be released on August 7, 'Face/Off (Special Collector's Edition)' will span two discs and be released September 11, 'The Jack Ryan Collection' will be released September 25, and 'Top Gun' will take off on October 2. |

Hell yes! Count me in for Faceoff and Disturbia as well. |
 for the Jack Ryan movies, although I'm suspecting they won't have anything new in terms of bonus material. One can only hope the Star Trek movies aren't far behind. :)
|
I expect that Paramount will only be bringing out the Jack Ryan movies in their "collection" and not as separate releases...disappointing for those of us who, as usual, just want the first movie. Oh well, at least there's always eBay or waiting six months until they release them separately.
But hey, two discs for Face/Off? Great news. |

I'll be buying Face/Off and maybe Top Gun out of the Paramount titles and Immortal Beloved out of the Sony titles. I would love to just get The Hunt for Red October out of the Jack Ryan movies.
I hope they're wrong about IB only having a featurette, since there was a commentary on the DVD. I have a feeling it's there, because I don't know of any Sony titles that have dropped a commentary. |
Hopefully, the Jack Ryan movies are seperate. I hate this "collection" crap they're trying to force on those who want to get specific titles but don't want to six months for them to be sold seperate, like the Mission Impossible flicks. I just want Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.
|
excited about Face/Off but a little bummed the Jack Ryan films are together as I'm only interested in Red October.
|
I'll definitely get Face/Off.

Any word on The Invisible? Seeing as I didn't get a chance to see it when it first came out I'd love to be able to watch it in HD. I don't think it even had a release for DVD, but knowing if it'll come out on HD DVD or Blu Ray would be nice
