Nice one for Blu-Ray. I would definately buy that if it were to be made available on HD DVD.

dkny75 12-13-06 11:47 AM

Wasn't the MSRP of Lost BD something crazy like $199?

Really? Where? Everything has all been rumors from what I have read.

Although this doesn't really give me a a warm fuzzy on a confirmation either.

It's like $99 per half season. Totally retarded. I honestly think that the DVDs are very well done, so I won't be upgrading.

mbs 12-13-06 12:16 PM

Releases like this would make me want to get a BD player (assuming no HD-DVD counterpart being released)... if the discs were priced resonably. No way I'd pay $100 per season.

king slug 12-13-06 02:47 PM

I almost cried when I saw this because I currently own HD-DVD. Then I got happy when I saw it was $99 per half season, I got happy. No way in hell would I spend $99 for a half of a season.

Fandango 12-13-06 03:22 PM

There has been no confirmation of the price.

Wick 12-13-06 04:55 PM

I love LOST, but I don't have a Blu-Ray player. Either way - there's no way in Hell that I would pay $99 per half-season. That's outrageous.

I'll stick with my DVD sets.

porieux 12-13-06 05:22 PM

I would rather see them put all the episodes on one disc.

kvrdave 12-13-06 05:22 PM

Agreed. I would love to have these types of things, but I'm not gonna' pay stupid prices for them.

Raul3 12-13-06 05:44 PM

It should be great. Too bad that I don't have a BD player. But agree with everyone $99 for half season is ridiculous.

speedyray 12-13-06 06:02 PM

I would love to have LOST in HD, but not at the 200 a season price point on BD or HD-DVD.

Matthew Chmiel 12-13-06 08:30 PM

You know, if Disney (and the other studios who use Blu-ray except Warner) used VC-1, they could probably fit around five episodes on a 50GB disc. ;)

Flay 12-13-06 10:50 PM

$99 for half a season?! rotfl

Mercury&Solace 12-13-06 11:16 PM

$99 per half season, fuck that.

I honestly think that the DVDs are very well done, so I won't be upgrading.

I love Lost and I will not be upgrading until the price is reasonable.

Michael Ballack 12-14-06 12:23 AM

Yeah, don't flame me, but the dvds have "hd like" picture quality. Yes, I know its not really hd. :) 200 bucks is insane.

PornoStar 12-14-06 01:22 AM

Yeah I remember that Lost post back awhile back. I thought it was the beginning of the end for the HD formats given the pricing they are trying to get away with. We will have to see if they really go ahead with those prices but they were without a doubt reported to be around 200 bucks for the full season. I also remember they were going to release it not in just half seasons but individual discs with like 4 episodes per disc at something like 40 bucks per. I just remember thinking WTF are these people thinking? Breaking up the seasons and charging that much. If it really does come out at those prices it will seriously do some major damage to both of the HD formats. Lost has alot of fans and that would get alot of press. It could single handedly do more damage to these fledgeling formats than anything else we have seen yet.

PS..

PerryD 12-14-06 08:44 AM

I don't think the final price has been announced yet, but do remember that the early season sets on DVD were X-Files at $149 per set, and Sopranos was $99 for what is essentially a half season.

But, Smallville: Season 5 on HD DVD is less than 60 bucks.

DVD Josh 12-14-06 11:14 AM

I honestly think that TV on HD-DVD will be a flop. Part of the allure is the price, and I also don't seeing alot of upgraders amongst current owners. In addition, I cannot imagine studios bothering with the remastering for shows that may not see a significant improvement.

The Sopranos "half" season is one episode shorter then their full seasons. So it's not the same thing.
