A Scanner Darkly?

Anyone know if Warner is planning to release this on HD (in either format)? It's safe to assume that most larger new releases will get a hi-def release now, but what about smaller titles like this and My Super Ex-Girlfriend? I hate having to double dip, but if we're gonna have to wait years for smaller titles I may have to :(

Since Warner and Universal started releasing titles day-and-date, Universal's American Dreamz is the only title that's been overlooked. If you're getting titles like ATL, Waist Deep, and great-but-still-a-blip-on-the-radar Kiss Kiss Bang Bang day and date on HD DVD, I think you're pretty safe with A Scanner Darkly. My Super Ex-Girlfriend would be a Fox release on Blu-ray, I believe, and I don't know if they've made their intentions for day/date titles clear yet.

Yeah, I forgot about those. I just wish they would announce these things in a timely manner. This week-before announcement is bullshit. I like to have all my pre-orders neatly arranged and plotted.

Sorry, but I doubt it. Lady in the Water is being released the same day as ASD on DVD. If they were releasing ASD, they likely would have announced it by now as well.

Also, American Dreamz is not the only title Universal has overlooked. United 93 and Inside Man are two other examples.

You're misreading my post. Universal first started supporting HD DVD day/date with Tokyo Drift, which was released on September 26th. Since that time, the only recent theatrical release that wasn't released day/date on HD DVD was American Dreamz.

United 93 was released on September 5th, and Inside Man was released all the way back in August, so they both predate Universal's day/date support. It had been known since very early in the life of the format that Universal wouldn't be releasing day/date titles until Tokyo Drift.

I really hope an announcement for ASD is coming soon, because that movie will look incredible in HD. If one isn't announced shortly after the SD release, I don't know how long I can hold out...really liked this flick.

The waiting is the worst part. To a lesser extent is Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Now that's one that will 100% be out on Blu-ray next year sometime, but when? Do I have to wait five months for it to coincide with the release of POTC3, or will they release it earlier? Of course the DVD will be out in only a couple of weeks which makes it even worse. Just give us the damn dates.
