What % of your HD purchases are double-dips?

Since a lot of people are complaining about having to double-dip on their HD purchases, how many are you getting that you've already owned on SD-DVD?

Just curious....
might have to do this type of thread occasionally since I'm sure the initial % will be higher right now because both formats are in their infancy.

Titles I own on both DVD and HD DVD:

Army of Darkness
Batman Begins
Blazing Saddles
The Fast and the Furious
Goodfellas
Land of the Dead
Pitch Black
Sleepy Hollow
The Thing

That'd be 9 of my 66 HD DVDs, or 13.6%.

digitalfreaknyc 11-13-06 10:35 AM

14 of my 17 are double-dips. 82%

The Bus 11-13-06 11:00 AM

About 40%. I've stopped buying SD releases in anticipation of their eventual release on HD. Even if they are not released in a year or two or three, the title will surely be cheaper at that point.

matome 11-13-06 11:47 AM

61%

BravesMG 11-13-06 11:53 AM

I think I'm at 12 out of 22, so about 55%.

PornoStar 11-13-06 01:02 PM

92 of my 99 titles are titles I already owned but not double dips. Thats 93% and as I have stated before, There is absolutly no way buying a movie in HD when you had it in SD is double dipping. This is as big and substaintial of an upgrade that I have ever purchased in terms of these movies. Absolutly despise the term as its so often misused. Bottom line, I wont hesitate to rebuy a movie on HDthat I already own on SD. There just inst any comparison between the 2. HD is in a league all its own. Considering I own well over 2300 DVD's, Ifully expect my percentage to remain very high for a long long time.

PS..

darkside 11-13-06 01:28 PM

Counting preorders 13 of 29. About 45%.

It would be more, but I held off on many of the more recent films and waited for the HD DVD versions.

lizard 11-13-06 01:47 PM

Nine of sixteen, counting pre-orders. I have sold, or will sell or give away, the DVD versions.

Doughboy 11-13-06 02:29 PM

21 out of the 31 HD-DVDs I have so far are double(or in some cases triple or quadruple) dips.

FantasticVSDoom 11-13-06 03:13 PM

50% 6 out of 12...

nevermind 11-13-06 04:19 PM

50% 1 of 2.

Hey- I just got the HD-DVD addon Saturday night :)

paulbh 11-13-06 06:21 PM

25 of 90 are new to me. Thus 72% I have previously owned.

fryinpan1 11-13-06 06:23 PM

I do not have my HD A2 player yet, but I have started buying HD DVDs (buy.com and DDD sales all around $16 each). 100% of my purchases have been double dips (8 received, and 6 on order). Hopefully, I did not waste my money rebuying movies I already owned and HD lives up to the hype.

Drexl 11-13-06 06:54 PM

75% so far have been, uh, repeat purchases.

You have nothing to worry about. Its everything its hyped up to be.

PS..

Supermallet 11-13-06 10:23 PM

At first I only bought double dips because most of the non-double dips were movies I didn't like. Training Day was the first non-double dip purchase. So over 80% of mine are double-dips.

speedyray 11-14-06 03:04 AM

Without counting and dividing, a casual glance would say it is about half and half for me. There are several I will likely replace once the prices go down, but have not yet. I try to concentrate on the new releases I want and classic I have yet to pickup.

xradman 11-14-06 03:07 AM

19 out of 60, so about 1/3 of my HD-DVDs are double dips. The number used to be much lower, but I went on a buying spree with google checkout offer. I was able to snag most of my double dips ~$15 each.

Abe. 11-14-06 05:08 PM

I only own two HD-DVDs, and I own both those movies on regular DVD.

Fade to Black 11-16-06 05:32 AM

1 out of 5 so I guess 20%

Only Enter the Dragon I upgraded on as I didn't have the most recent SE of that, only the old black snapcase. The others I got I'd been meaning to get on DVD for awhile but hadn't yet.

Other titles I got:

Mutiny on the Bounty
Unforgiven
Backdraft
The Adventures of Robin Hood

ianholm 11-16-06 08:45 AM

6 out of 16 blu-rays, so about 38%

Iron_Giant 11-17-06 09:41 AM

0%, I do not double dip.

matome 11-17-06 10:02 AM

Not even for a technical upgrade, like an anamorphic transfer?
